1
Thou, Father, who art Spirit true,
The holiest of all;
We worship in the spirit now,
In truth upon Thee call.
The holiest of all;
We worship in the spirit now,
In truth upon Thee call.
2
A spirit Thou hast made for us
That we may worship Thee,
That echoing in spirit thus
One spirit we will be.
That we may worship Thee,
That echoing in spirit thus
One spirit we will be.
3
The Father in the Son has come,
The Son the Spirit is,
That to our spirit God may come.
O what a grace is this!
The Son the Spirit is,
That to our spirit God may come.
O what a grace is this!
4
The Son is Thine eternal Word,
The Word is Spirit too;
The Spirit as our life has come
Our spirit to renew.
The Word is Spirit too;
The Spirit as our life has come
Our spirit to renew.
5
Thy Spirit in our spirit is,
And thus in unity
Thy Spirit witnesseth with ours
That we are born of Thee.
And thus in unity
Thy Spirit witnesseth with ours
That we are born of Thee.
6
In everything Thy Spirit leads
That we may follow Him;
We thus may spiritual become,
With life and peace within.
That we may follow Him;
We thus may spiritual become,
With life and peace within.
7
In spirit we would worship Thee,
In spirit Thee address,
Until our spirit is released
Thine image to express.
In spirit Thee address,
Until our spirit is released
Thine image to express.
8
Our Father, we would praise Thee now
That Thou the Spirit art;
In spirit and in truth to Thee
True worship we impart.
That Thou the Spirit art;
In spirit and in truth to Thee
True worship we impart.

THE ALL-SUFFICIENT SPIRIT
THE SPIRIT IS THE TRANSMISSION OF GOD
God as the Father is the source, God as the Son is the course and the very expression of the Father, and God as the Spirit is the transmission of God into man. Therefore, the Father is the Spirit, the Son is also the Spirit, and the Spirit, of course, is the Spirit. The Father is in the Son, the Son is in the Spirit, and the Spirit is in us as the very transmission of God, transmitting constantly all that God is and has in Christ.

OUR UNIQUE NEED—THE PROCESSED-AND CONSUMMATED TRIUNE GOD AS THE ALL-INCLUSIVE, LIFE-GIVING SPIRIT
I have sometimes been asked why we pray to the Father or to the Lord Jesus but not to the Spirit. Actually, when we pray to the Father, we pray to the Spirit. When we pray to the Son, we pray also to the Spirit. Who is God? God is the Spirit. Who is the Father? The Father is the Spirit. Who is Christ? Christ is the Spirit. The totality, the aggregate, the consummation, of the Triune God with all His ingredients is the Spirit. Therefore, in the Spirit we have the three of the Triune God—the Father, the Son, and the Spirit—with all the steps of God’s process as the ingredients.

I enjoyed vs. 3 this morning singing to our Father in spirit.
The Father in the Son has come,
The Son the Spirit is,
That to our spirit God may come.
O what a grace is this.

John 4:23 - But a an hour is coming, and it is now, when the true worshippers will worship the Father b in spirit and truthfulness, for the Father also seeks such to worship Him.
John 4:24 - God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truthfulness.
Cutler’s hymn taught us the Lord’s word to us the human worship of God is in our human spirit which is born into us when we believed (John 3: 3, 6, 7; 3:15). The music mingled our regenerated being, our regenerated soul, into the true worship O God!

The music to this hymn was composed by Henry Steven Cutler. He was born October 13, 1825, Boston Massachusetts and died December 5, 1902 at his home in Swampscott, Massachusetts, about 12 miles north of Boston.
Henry was the son of Roland Cutler and Martha Richardson, and husband of Ellen McNorah. They were married in 1833. He studied organ under Aaron Upjohn Hayster, organist of Trinity Church in Boston Massachusetts.
In 1844, he went to Europe to continue his studies in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. While abroad, he visited many English cathedrals and became familiar with their style of music. In 1852, he became organist at the Church of the Advent, Boston, and, in 1858, organist and choirmaster at Trinity Church, New York City. He also played at the churches in Brooklyn, New York; Providence, Rhode Island; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Troy, New York; and Newark, New Jersey.
