Mentioning Spirit and spirit nineteen times, this hymn repeatedly speaks about the relationship between the Holy Spirit and our human spirit. I hope that you will all pay attention to this matter.

I enjoyed vs. 3 this morning singing to our Father in spirit.

John 4:23 - But a an hour is coming, and it is now, when the true worshippers will worship the Father b in spirit and truthfulness, for the Father also seeks such to worship Him.
John 4:24 - God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truthfulness.
Cutler’s hymn taught us the Lord’s word to us the human worship of God is in our human spirit which is born into us when we believed (John 3: 3, 6, 7; 3:15). The music mingled our regenerated being, our regenerated soul, into the true worship O God!

The music to this hymn was composed by Henry Steven Cutler. He was born October 13, 1825, Boston Massachusetts and died December 5, 1902 at his home in Swampscott, Massachusetts, about 12 miles north of Boston.
Henry was the son of Roland Cutler and Martha Richardson, and husband of Ellen McNorah. They were married in 1833. He studied organ under Aaron Upjohn Hayster, organist of Trinity Church in Boston Massachusetts.
In 1844, he went to Europe to continue his studies in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. While abroad, he visited many English cathedrals and became familiar with their style of music. In 1852, he became organist at the Church of the Advent, Boston, and, in 1858, organist and choirmaster at Trinity Church, New York City. He also played at the churches in Brooklyn, New York; Providence, Rhode Island; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Troy, New York; and Newark, New Jersey.
