I stand amazed in the presence
Of Jesus the Nazarene,
And wonder how He could love me,
A sinner condemned, unclean.

For me it was in the garden,
He prayed: “Not my will, but Thine.”
He had no tears for His own griefs,
But sweat-drops of blood for mine.
He prayed: “Not my will, but Thine.”
He had no tears for His own griefs,
But sweat-drops of blood for mine.
For me it was in the garden,
He prayed: “Not my will, but Thine.”

In pity angels beheld Him,
And came from the world of light
To strengthen Him in the sorrows
He bore for my soul that night.
And came from the world of light
To strengthen Him in the sorrows
He bore for my soul that night.
In pity angels beheld Him,
And came from the world of light
To strengthen Him in the sorrows
He bore for my soul that night.
And came from the world of light
To strengthen Him in the sorrows
He bore for my soul that night.

He took my sins and my sorrows,
He made them His very own;
He bore the burden to Calv’ry,
And suffered, and died alone.
He made them His very own;
He bore the burden to Calv’ry,
And suffered, and died alone.
He took my sins and my sorrows,
He made them His very own;
He bore the burden to Calv’ry,
And suffered, and died alone.
He made them His very own;
He bore the burden to Calv’ry,
And suffered, and died alone.

When with the ransomed in glory
His face I at last shall see,
’Twill be my joy through the ages
To sing of His love for me.
His face I at last shall see,
’Twill be my joy through the ages
To sing of His love for me.
When with the ransomed in glory
His face I at last shall see,
’Twill be my joy through the ages
To sing of His love for me.

’Twill be my joy through the ages
To sing of His love for me.

I love the verse, for me it was in the garden, he prayed not my will but thine. He had no tears for his own grief, but sweat drops of blood for mine. That breaks me into tears. How wonderful that the body all around the world will see the richness of our saviour. We cannot contain it but he did it. Mighty wonderful God our saviour.

Yes, Gary! Amen to your comment. This site is such a blessing to me as well. This hymn helped me to praise the Lord this morning. It's wonderful to know of my brothers and sisters all over the world. ,.... and to pray for them.

I read a hymn each day from this site for my morning devotions. I love reading the comments. I love that we are worshiping together through the songs ever though we are separated by time and distance. The body of Christ is universal and unending. One day soon we will all be together before the throne. Let the party begin. Come Lord Jesus.

This hymn is glorious, absolutely! There are so so many glorious hymns , but this one , for me , clarifies the glory that OUR SAVIOUR LORD JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF AND OUR LORD GOD ALMIGHTY, has promised us all and confirmed that what lies ahead for us all , if we only simply, give our souls to HIM , is unimaginable paradise! Many times ( especially as we are all suffering greatly with the demonic virus) I sit and ponder . Why oh why don’t people simply ask JESUS to help them with whatever it is that life brings! Trouble , strife , hunger , death , illness , financial problems, family dysfunction etc; anything, everything ! The answer , my friend is not “ blowing in the wind “ , ! The answer is JESUS CHRIST! For HE IS ONLY AN ARMS LENGTH AWAY! GOD OUR FATHER, THE SON AND THE HOLY SPIRIT , WILL PROTECT US FROM ALL EVIL ! HE DOES AND HE WILL . TODAY TOMORROW AND FOREVER AND ETERNITY! AMEN 🙏
