One day when heaven was filled with His praises

Gospel The Savior

English987
1
One day when heaven was filled with His praises,
One day when sin was as black as could be,
Jesus came forth to be born of a virgin—
Dwelt among men, my example is He!

Living, He loved me; dying, He saved me;
Buried, He carried my sins far away;
Rising, He justified freely forever:
One day He’s coming—O glorious day!
2
One day they led Him up Calvary’s mountain,
One day they nailed Him to die on the tree;
Suffering anguish, despised and rejected;
Bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He.
3
One day they left Him alone in the garden,
One day He rested, from suffering free;
Angels came down o’er His tomb to keep vigil;
Hope of the hopeless, my Savior is He.
4
One day the grave could conceal Him no longer,
One day the stone rolled away from the door;
Then He arose, over death He had conquered;
Now is ascended, my Lord evermore.
5
One day the trumpet will sound for His coming,
One day the skies with His glory will shine;
Wonderful day, my beloved ones bringing;
Glorious Savior, this Jesus is mine!

@Dear Henrich,

I believe Elizabeth meant SS&S to be the Sacred Songs and Solos Hymn Book.

@Dear Elizabeth,

That particular hymn is not in the SS&S but you can find it in the Baptist Hymnal or other Hymnals or even online if you are not particular about the solfa notations .

God bless you all.

Dear Elizabeth, if you told us what you mean by SS&S, someone could help you. I googled it and found nothing useful. What a chorus! What a terse and precise summary of the Good News. I touches my heart and lifts it up.

This was my father's favorite hymn. He was born in 1905. He didn't surrender to Jesus until he was in his late twenties. He lived to be 96 and this was *always* his favorite hymn because, he said, "It tells the whole gospel story from beginning to end."

Beautiful hymn, sounds heavenly and true.

I first heard is more than a decade ago when I was in the Baptist church.

It kept ringing on heart heart yesterday after I watched the Memorial service for Ravi Zacharias.

Jesus is Lord.

This is a summary of all that the Lord has done for us-what a full redemption! One day He will come, then our salvation will be complete- the redemption of our bodies. Lord we look forward to that Day. 1Cor15:14-19
