We rest on Thee, our Shield and our Defender

2 Chronicles 14:11-12 KJV

[11] And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for WE REST ON THEE, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee. [12] So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled.

Look up who wrote this hymn. You will not be disappointed. You will be encouraged and amazed. Praise the Lord for His saints who have gone before us.

Yes Lord grant us grace to rest in You and only walk in the strength which You supply.

Praise the Lord 😀 We need to take up the shield of faith, experience the proving of our faith, and receive the end of our faith – the salvation of our souls.

We rest on Thee, our Shield and our Defender:

Thine is the battle, Thine shall be the praise
When reigning in the Kingdom of Thy splendor;
Victors, we rest with Thee, through endless days.

How appropriate this Hymn is for today. We have no other shield or Defender apart from Christ Jesus. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood. The days have always been evil it looks more pronounced today. Hence Thank You Lord we are in Christ shielded from the fiery darts of the evil one. Amen

We rest on Thee, our dear precious Jesus, our Shield and our Defender and we acknowledge that we can’t go forth without You because we know without You we’ll fail, but we desire to go forth strengthened by You!!

Strong in Thy strength, safe in Thy keeping tender. We rest on Thee, and in Thy Name we go!! May it always be!!

This hymn touches my heart. Indeed in this uncertain situation of the world our only sure defender and shield is the Lord. Father please let peace prevail on humanity. We look to you and you alone our sure foundation and Captain of salvation. Peace unto you all.

This song represent so many things to me. Many part of the world today is faced with economic recession with millions out of jobs, wars and crisis that has kept thousands in IDP Camp with no basic amenities to live a decent life. Folks feels relocating to UK, US gives the ultimate solution:

Regardless, God is saying "I" can rest on him. "I" can find eternal refuge in him. I feel emotional singing this hymn. Hallelujah..
