Standing on the promises of Christ my King

1
Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.
2
Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.
3
Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.
4
Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.
5
Standing on the promises I shall not fall,
List’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call.
Resting in my Savior as my All in all,
Standing on the promises of God.

I came here to listen to this song because I am weary I have no job and applications are being rejected, I am tired of being single and worried no shoulder to run to and my life is feeling unsettled.

But I am standing on the word of God today to no matter what happens he is God. I will continue to trust him my life will end in praise!!!

The Lord is giving me a new name

The story behind this hymn is just as powerful as its lyrics. It will stir your faith to hold firmly to the promises of God’s Word for your life.

Russell Kelso Carter (1849–1928) was a remarkable man—an outstanding athlete and scholar at a military academy who went on to become a successful teacher and coach. Later, he served as an ordained Methodist minister before studying medicine and spending his later years as a practicing doctor. Carter was also gifted in music and songwriting.

Though Carter had long professed faith in Christ, it was a personal health crisis that brought him into a deeper experience of God’s promises. At the age of 30, he was diagnosed with a severe heart condition that doctors said was beyond cure. With no medical hope left, Carter turned to God in earnest prayer. Kneeling before the Lord, he vowed that whether he was healed or not, his life would be wholly devoted to God’s service.

From that moment, the Scriptures came alive to him. He began to take God’s promises of healing at face value, choosing to believe them regardless of his symptoms or feelings. Over the next several months, his strength returned, and his heart was completely restored. Carter went on to live another 49 healthy years.

The hymn he had written years earlier—Standing on the Promises—took on new meaning after that experience. It became more than a song; it became his testimony and way of life.

May we continue to have fresh encounter on the UNCHANGEABLE PROMISES OF GOD!

This hymn makes my faith and trust in God come alive. Even if I'm in the midst of the storms of life, in Christ I'm standing as my All in all because there's no victory outside Him.

Hallelujah

Grew up playing organ and singing these hymns in church. Love them and don't like the new music of today at all. I really can't worship God with the music of today! Finally found a church that sings hymns where I leave refreshed instead of upset.
