Master, speak! Thy servant heareth, Waiting for Thy gracious word, Longing for Thy voice that cheereth Master, let it now be heard. I am list’ning, Lord, for Thee; What hast Thou to say to me?

Often through my heart is pealing Many another voice than Thine, Many an unwilled echo stealing From the walls of this Thy shrine. Let Thy longed-for accents fall; Master, speak! and silence all.

Speak to me by name, O Master, Let me know it is to me; Speak, that I may follow faster, With a step more firm and free, Where the Shepherd leads the flock In the shadow of the Rock!
As I started my devotions this morning this hymn came to mind. It reminded me of my pastor 55 years ago who would kneel behind the lectern while we sang this. How he longed for the Master to speak through him. I am still listening.
This is one of my childhood song , it came back to me just now what a blessing to be able to sing it and reflect on where I was as a child and where I am now as an adult...... all glory to almighty God my heavenly father... hallelujah 🙌🙏
We use to sing this hymn at the primary school by then I was a Muslim but thanks to Jesus I'm a Christian today. This is one of the hymns that makes me fall deep into the Spirit.
I was taught this song in primary school and it continues to draw me closer to my Master each time I sing it. It’s one of my favorite devotional hymns.
