1
O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home.
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home.
2
Under the shadow of Thy throne
Thy saints have dwelt secure;
Sufficient is Thine arm alone,
And our defence is sure.
Thy saints have dwelt secure;
Sufficient is Thine arm alone,
And our defence is sure.
3
Before the hills in order stood,
Or earth received her frame,
From everlasting Thou art God,
To endless years the same.
Or earth received her frame,
From everlasting Thou art God,
To endless years the same.
4
A thousand ages in Thy sight
Are like an evening gone;
Short as the watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun.
Are like an evening gone;
Short as the watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun.
5
Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
Bears all its sons away;
They fly forgotten, as a dream
Dies at the opening day.
Bears all its sons away;
They fly forgotten, as a dream
Dies at the opening day.
6
O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Be Thou our guard while life shall last,
And our eternal home.
Our hope for years to come,
Be Thou our guard while life shall last,
And our eternal home.

This song came to mind this early morning 5am. I searched for the lyrics. I am grateful to God for calling me to Himself as a child. Everything is becoming more clearer. I don't know how I could have survived without You in my life. Thank You Lord for Your help in ages past, now and forever. Am so grateful for Your love so secured. Help me to give You my all Oh Lord, Amen

This song came to my mouth this evening while worshiping. Truly God is my help in ages past, my hope for years to come and under the shadow of they throne I have dwelt secure. This is my pray even in my exams 🙏

Tomorrow will be three years since my dear wife passed on to glory. The words of this hymn comfort me hugely.
Under the shadow of Thy throne
Still may we dwell secure;
Sufficient is Thine arm alone,
And our defence is sure.
A thousand ages, in Thy sight,
Are like an evening gone;
Short as the watch that ends the night,
Before the rising sun.
I thank the Lord for every reminder of the hope of eternal life for those who dwell in Him.
To Him be our praise and the glory!
Why is “O” used in conjunction with “God” ?

It has been a good thing listening to this hymn and having a sense of help in our God who saw my family through hard times in the past years. But today it's all like a dream for it can. only be through the help of God. 🙏🙏
