O God, our help in ages past

Experience of God As the Dwelling Place

English607
1
O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home.
2
Under the shadow of Thy throne
Thy saints have dwelt secure;
Sufficient is Thine arm alone,
And our defence is sure.
3
Before the hills in order stood,
Or earth received her frame,
From everlasting Thou art God,
To endless years the same.
4
A thousand ages in Thy sight
Are like an evening gone;
Short as the watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun.
5
Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
Bears all its sons away;
They fly forgotten, as a dream
Dies at the opening day.
6
O God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Be Thou our guard while life shall last,
And our eternal home.

When I cast my mind back to how this great God has helped me mightily in the past, I feel so secure about the future and the years to come. He has always been my shelter in times of violent storms of life.

An ode to a timeless God.

This hymn beautifully encapsulates my wonderment at God, ageless and ever present.

I am glad I have him on my side.

It is a Great Day in America! God has heard as Godly men stood up and cried out to God! God has brought back Hope, Peace and Calm. We Love what America is founded on: the God of our Fathers! In GRATITUDE our Nation of Believers lift our Hearts in THANKSGIVING.

this hymn is indeed " a heart lifting hymn". God who has always been our help despite when we fail to put our trust and hope in him at different times; yet he overlooks us and still give us the necessary defense and shelter. what a God yesterday, today and forever.
