Teach me Thy way, O Lord

Longings For the Lord’s Way

English406
1
Teach me Thy way, O Lord,
Teach me Thy way;
Thy gracious aid afford,
Teach me Thy way.
Help me to walk aright;
More by faith, less by sight;
Lead me with heav’nly light,
Teach me Thy way.
2
When doubts and fears arise,
Teach me Thy way;
When storms o’erspread the skies,
Teach me Thy way.
Shine through the cloud and rain,
Through sorrow, toil, and pain;
Make Thou my pathway plain,
Teach me Thy way.
3
Long as my life shall last,
Teach me Thy way;
Where’er my lot be cast,
Teach me Thy way.
Until the race is run,
Until the journey’s done,
Until the crown is won,
Teach me Thy way.

New to me. Heard thru Jan Mulder arrangement this. Powerful prayer. Truly inspired. Wept while singing the words the first time.

Wonderful hymn!

My Uncle sang this in a Christian Band many years ago. Family members, including myself, going through so many health struggles at this time and, on waking during the night, unable to sleep, this hymn came into my mind. I had to look up the words as haven’t heard it play for ages but gives so much hope and very inspirational. Thank you❤️

This song came to mind during my time with the Lord this morning.

It expresses my very prayer to God this morning.

Beautiful to scroll down the comments and see another verse from the Vietnamese Hymn Book. Thank you for sharing and being a blessing to me and others.

Was just praying and this old hymn I not sung for many years came into my mind. Tried to sing it to the Lord, so had to look it up. A great theme of God's faithfulness. Been ill for 15 months, now the Lord is bringing me through! What a great God we serve. The Lord has all His children carefully in His hands. Isa 419-13

Remember this song from many years ago when I was a choir boy at St Gabriel’s Church in Sunderland. Beautiful hymn with a lot of meaning.

A different second verse from Vietnamese hymn book. I believe it flows much better than the second verse here.

2. When I am sad at heart,
Teach me Thy way!
When earthly joys depart,
Teach me Thy way!
In hours of loneliness,
In times of dire distress,
In failure or success,
Teach me Thy way!

借恩使我得知你的道路;
憑信,不憑眼見;
風浪不能淹沒你的道路;
苦樂於我無礙—由你掌握;
