Father God, Thou art the source of life

Worship of the Father His Name, His Word, His Glory

English1081
1
Father God, Thou art the source of life.
We, Thy sons, are Thine expression;
In Thy name, our dear possession.
Father God, Thou art the source of life.

In Thy life, in Thy life,
We have oneness in Thy life.
In Thy life, in Thy life,
In Thy life, O Father, we are one.
2
How we thank Thee that Thy holy Word
With Thy nature, saturates us;
From the world it separates us.
Thank Thee, Father, for Thy holy Word.

Through Thy Word, through Thy Word,
We have oneness through Thy Word.
Through Thy Word, through Thy Word,
Through Thy holy Word we’re all made one.
3
Oh, the glory of the Triune God!
We’re His sons, oh, what a blessing!
We His glory are expressing—
Oh, the glory of the Triune God!

In Thy glory, in Thy glory,
In Thy glory we are one.
In Thy glory, in Thy glory,
In Thy glory we are all made one!

The Father

The Source of Life

The Father is the source of life. This is indicated by the Lord’s word in 5:26, which says, “The Father has life in Himself. ” In the entire Scripture, especially in the Gospel of John, the Father denotes the source of life. Even in a human family, the father is the source of the life of that family. As the father of a family is the very source and origin of life, so the name Father reveals the Father as the source of life.

Whenever we call Him “Father, ” we must understand that this title is realized by virtue of His divine life, without which the name of the Father would be nothing more than an empty word, devoid of reality. Since the reality of the title Father is divine life, by saying that we are one in the name of the Father, we affirm that we are one in divine life.

I have been nourished by this hymn for decades. Hallelujah for the oneness in the triune God and the oneness of the Body of Christ! May we keep the oneness of the Spirit in all places and occasions under His mercy and love! Amen

I have felt that a fourth stanza can be added regarding God’s love for quite a while…. I just wrote it today and want to share it with all those who love our Lord and call upon His name.

4
Father, Thou hast loved us with Thy love,
In Thy Son, this love unites us;
Boundless grace, it now invites us;
Abide in Thy love given to us.
In Thy love, in Thy love,
We are one in Thy great love.
In Thy love, in Thy love,
In Thy boundless love we’re all made one!
