I was sinking deep in sin

Gospel Testimony

1
I was sinking deep in sin,
Far from the peaceful shore,
Very deeply stained within,
Sinking to rise no more;
But the Master of the sea
Heard my despairing cry,
From the waters lifted me,
Now safe am I.

Love lifted me!
Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help,
Love lifted me.
Love lifted me!
Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help,
Love lifted me.
2
All my heart to Him I give,
Ever to Him I’ll cling,
In His blessed presence live,
Ever His praises sing.
Love so mighty and so true
Merits my soul’s best songs;
Faithful, loving service, too,
To Him belongs.
3
Souls in danger, look above,
Jesus completely saves;
He will lift you by His love
Out of the angry waves.
He’s the Master of the sea,
Billows His will obey;
He your Savior wants to be—
Be saved today.

I remember as a teen, now 73 singing that song and laughing with my friends at a church service at a movie theatre at which we were forced to go to by coach. It haunted me and stayed with me it was played the day I got saved (age 32). It was played the day I was baptized, and many years later as I was ordained to serve. He will seek the lost and blind sinner, I am blessed He sought me out that day as a teen and never gave up. What a Glorious God!

I woke up this morning and found myself singing this song. I knew the first verse and the last. But, the words kept jumbling up. I tried to find it in my hymnal and could not. So, I decided to try google and here it is. Then the first two comments fits me perfectly.

I've been wondering why God saved me from almost drowning as a child - knowing that there are so many people more deserving - Humming this tune this morning - realized it was old hymn - so I looked it up and found you all - God Bless - God lifted me!

Don't know where it came from, other than the Holy Spirit, that I just started singing this song. We used to sing this in church when I was a kid all the time. Oh how I miss the hymns of old.

Woke up this morning with the chorus of this song on my mind. Great finding this. Made my think of my time in church with my parents many years ago.

I learned this as a child in Sunday School about 60 years ago and it has never left me. We are trying to revive all the old choruses we sang as children. Love is still lifting me. God bless

So nice to see this...a memory from my childhood. So simple and yet so profound..If you can sing it and not feel joy in your heart, it's time to reaccess you life..

I was sinking deep in sin, Far from the peaceful show, Very deeply stained within But the master of see heard my despairing cry. The love of God is something that without divine intervention one can't understand. Imagine the time we didn't know God, the time we were wandering in sin, almost dying in sin God sent His only son from heaven to redeem us from sinking in the sea of sin. May God help us to realise his love every day.

Love is the greatest. God commanded his love towards us that while we were still sinners Jesus died for us. That's the love that lifted us.
