Recall how David swore

1
Recall how David swore,
“I’ll not come into my house,
Nor go up to my bed,
Give slumber to mine eyelids,
Until I find a place for Thee,
A place, O Lord, for Thee.”
Our mighty God desires a home
Where all His own may come.
2
How blinded we have been,
Shut in with what concerns us;
While God’s house lieth waste—
Lord, break through, overturn us;
We’ll go up to the mountain,
Bring wood and build the house;
We’ll never say, “Another day!”
It’s time! We’ll come and build!
3
O Lord, against these days,
Inspire some for Your building,
Just as in David’s day—
A remnant who are willing
To come and work in Your house,
Oh, what a blessed charge!
Your heart’s desire, is our desire—
We come, O Lord, to build.
4
Within those whom You’d call
Put such a restless caring
For building to give all—
These times are for preparing;
The gates of hell cannot prevail
Against the builded Church!
The hours are few, the builders too—
Lord, build, O build in us!
(Repeat the last four lines)

The song is always a wakening call to return to the Lord's heart's desire and to His calling. Lord, deliver us from our ceiled houses, our small universe, to be well-pleasing to You for Your interests on the earth!

Yes... how blinded we have been, often care for our own interest first... This song is good reminder to us that God also has an interest, just recall how David swore that he will not go into his house, nor go unto his bed and give slumber to his eyelids. Praise the Lord that He desires the builded church! May we become the few remnants that go up to the mountain and bring wood to build up His house today! Amen!

AMEN! Hymns that we enjoyed and sang before causes us and reminds us to turn and remain in our spirit, think and decide, pursue and gain Christ for God's building just as in David's day to come up to build God's house. HALLELUJAH!!! We must be built up in Christ.

Every time I hear and sing this hymn it always refreshes my heart to love Him and to desire for His building and I can't help myself but to consecrate again and again my being for the church. My husband and I sang this hymn during our wedding as our consecration to the church and until now this song always reminds us to go on gaining materials for His building. This preserves our heart up to this time to love Him and the church, not to waste time but diligently, absolutely and faithfully fulfilling His hearts desire. Lord continue to make us willing to come and build in Your house.

Whenever i hear this song and sing along with it, there is the refreshing, the flowing, the renewing in my inward parts toward the Lord's building work. Everyday we need to be renewed and refreshed. We are for His building!!! How we need to declare this!!! May the Lord be merciful to us to be able to stay in the flow until we reach the final destination which is His builded Church. Amen.

It speaks of the writer's heart as a duplication of God's heart. Lord, make us a "remnant who are willing."

Every time I hear this song, the Lord burns within and speaks to me concerning His desire. Saints, He desires a place to dwell! O Lord, against these days inspire some for Your building. Lord, save us from being blinded with what concerns us while Your house lies waste! Lord Jesus, gain Your builders. Lord, today, gain our cooperation. We come, O Lord, to build!

Hallelujah...

I attended the "tour of a lifetime conference" held at baguio City Philippines. This hymn touched me so much deep within...

This consecration song, led me to my deepest part of being and when we sung this many of us cried. there is a life flowing when we had this hymn.

As in the hymn we are for God's building, we need to build His house. Build His house with us as He is our precious material. May most of us be touched to be inspired for His building.

We are no longer blind and we are redeemed by God and He will put a restless caring in us.... May our Lord grant us the light to build up His House. Amen.

Whether or not the new way will be successful ultimately depends on everyone prophesying. If the practice of everyone prophesying cannot be successfully carried out, we will fall back to the old way of one man speaking. It is very easy for one person to speak, but it is much more difficult for everyone to prophesy in a district meeting; it is hard for the speakers as well as the listeners. Many times we have an experience of hearing a speaking that points directly to our situation and exposes us in the light even though our name is never mentioned. The goal of the new way is for everyone to be on an "operating table," letting the Lord as the great Physician operate on us. As a result, our condition will improve, and God will gain a dwelling place. This is the built-up church, which the enemy fears: "The gates of hell cannot prevail / Against the builded church!" (Hymns, #1248).
