Just as I am

Gospel Coming to the Lord

English1048
1
Just as I am, without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bid’st me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come! I come!
2
Just as I am, and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot;
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!
3
Just as I am, though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt;
Fightings within, and fears without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!
4
Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;
Sight, riches, healing of the mind;
Yes, all I need, in Thee to find,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!
5
Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
Because Thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!
6
Just as I am, Thy love unknown
Has broken every barrier down;
Now, to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!

This is one of my favorite songs. Reminds me of my Grandma whom I loved dearly. I went to church with her from the time I was a baby to adulthood. Singing this song. I can't wait to see her again. I lost my daughter to cancer in 2020 right before the holidays and this song reminds me of her too. She had a loving and kind heart just like her Great Grandma.

I'm here because I was reading a sermon titled "Go and Tell Jesus" by Octavius Winslow which contained the last stanza from this beautiful hymn. Octavius has an immaculate way with words that are utterly convincing through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. He makes a great argument for the case of telling Jesus everything. He begins with convincing points where he sheds more light on the life of Jesus Christ on earth that answers the question, "why we should tell Jesus everything".

This hymn is the perfect summary of all the sermon is about and needs no other argument.
