To God be the glory, great things He hath done

1
To God be the glory, great things He hath done,
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life our redemption to win,
And opened the life-gate that all may go in.

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
  Let the earth hear His voice;
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
  Let the people rejoice;
Oh, come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
  And give Him the glory; great things He hath done.
2
Oh, perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.
3
Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport when Jesus we see.

Good song.

How often we forget in this day of "how I feel", that worship is about praising God and not about making us feel warm and fuzzy. Of course, it's wonderful when our worship does renews our mind and spirit. But it's more important that we focus on the cross, rather than within. In a few simple words of The Gospel, God's grace (his undeserved love for us) remind us of His promise of life to all who believe. His perfect plan of salvation, of which no human mind could conceive, prove His name is worthy of praise!! To God be the glory, now and forever! Amen

After reading this morning chapters in the book of John I felt the urge to sing this hymn. It’s been many years that I have heard or thought of it. The words are beautiful, encouraging and powerful. Praise God forever!! Amen.

I just woke up... interacted with two family members and realized when I came to have my devotions that, “It’s all about me... ”. Instantly! before I even really finished my thought, God put this song in my head! Not only that, this particular song was sung at my wedding almost 45 years ago and I looovvve it! My gracious Father, with never-ending mercy and love, is beyond incredible!!!! Alleluia! Alleluia!!!

God is great, awesome Father. I praise Him every day. Glory be to Him forever.

Third, we may classify the hymns by the sentiment expressed in the hymns. This is the deepest and most important matter in choosing a hymn. The sentiment of a hymn is the tender feeling of that hymn. The more tender a hymn is, the deeper is its sentiment. Two hymns may have the same subject and be under the same subdivision, but there may be a difference between them in sentiment. For example, Hymns, #39 and #52 are both hymns on the worship of the Father, but they have very different sentiments. Hymns, #39 is a good hymn that is full of excitement. Singing this hymn may make us want to shout. In contrast, Hymns, #52 is a very tender and fine hymn, perhaps the most tender and fine hymn in the section on the worship of the Father. If we study and pray over this hymn, we will sense how deep and tender its feeling is.
