To God be the glory, great things He hath done

1
To God be the glory, great things He hath done,
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life our redemption to win,
And opened the life-gate that all may go in.
  Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
  Let the earth hear His voice;
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
  Let the people rejoice;
Oh, come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
  And give Him the glory; great things He hath done.
2
Oh, perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.
3
Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport when Jesus we see.

Just noticing that the words of your 1st verse should be corrected. It should be;" Who yielded His life an atonement for sin ...

This song open My eyes more on how God redeemed My Life Through Jesus Christ.

Hallelujah! Am saved!

God help me to remain in this great act of redemption and be raptureable.

Great song that summarises all about our life and faith as Christians - from the coming of our Lord, Jesus Christ, on earth out of God's love to redeem mankind from sin through His second coming when we shall see and meet Him in our rapture.

A version of this song uses the word "rapture" in place of "transport" in the last line of the 3rd verse. I sing this song to end my hymnal praise to God every morning, and it gladdens my heart with the joy and hope of our Lord's coming.

To God, indeed, be all the glory. Amen!

Third, we may classify the hymns by the sentiment expressed in the hymns. This is the deepest and most important matter in choosing a hymn. The sentiment of a hymn is the tender feeling of that hymn. The more tender a hymn is, the deeper is its sentiment. Two hymns may have the same subject and be under the same subdivision, but there may be a difference between them in sentiment. For example, Hymns, #39 and #52 are both hymns on the worship of the Father, but they have very different sentiments. Hymns, #39 is a good hymn that is full of excitement. Singing this hymn may make us want to shout. In contrast, Hymns, #52 is a very tender and fine hymn, perhaps the most tender and fine hymn in the section on the worship of the Father. If we study and pray over this hymn, we will sense how deep and tender its feeling is.
