For me it was in the garden,
He prayed: “Not my will, but Thine.”
He had no tears for His own griefs,
But sweat-drops of blood for mine.
He prayed: “Not my will, but Thine.”
He had no tears for His own griefs,
But sweat-drops of blood for mine.

In pity angels beheld Him,
And came from the world of light
To strengthen Him in the sorrows
He bore for my soul that night.
And came from the world of light
To strengthen Him in the sorrows
He bore for my soul that night.
In pity angels beheld Him,
And came from the world of light
To strengthen Him in the sorrows
He bore for my soul that night.

He took my sins and my sorrows,
He made them His very own;
He bore the burden to Calv’ry,
And suffered, and died alone.
He made them His very own;
He bore the burden to Calv’ry,
And suffered, and died alone.
He took my sins and my sorrows,
He made them His very own;
He bore the burden to Calv’ry,
And suffered, and died alone.

He bore the burden to Calv’ry,
And suffered, and died alone.

When with the ransomed in glory
His face I at last shall see,
’Twill be my joy through the ages
To sing of His love for me.
His face I at last shall see,
’Twill be my joy through the ages
To sing of His love for me.
When with the ransomed in glory
His face I at last shall see,
’Twill be my joy through the ages

’Twill be my joy through the ages
To sing of His love for me.

I love the hymns, they are so rich and free with truth.

I love this hymn. Always have done, always will. In fact, I've left instructions that I want it to be sung at my funeral service. I want my funeral to be a joyful time, because by the grace of God, and the work of our dear Saviour at Calvary, I WILL be there, in His presence, totally amazed at how He could love me, a sinner, condemned, unclean! THANK YOU SAVIOUR for loving me, so much, that You should die for me.

This is an anointed song and speaks of His love for us, and the personal agony He endured during that terrible time. I don't think we need to change any words. They are what the composer felt inspired to write. Let's leave it alone.
Really nice song

I like this gospel hymn, but it seems to lack a verse concerning the mighty resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ from the dead.
How about.....
When He arose in Hos power
The Angels rolled back the stone.
His glorified body - the first hour
Saw the solders left all alone.

1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. - Romans 5:1-2
What a song, what a Savior!
