Out in the highways and byways of life

Preaching of the Gospel A Channel of Blessing

English929
1
Out in the highways and byways of life,
Many are weary and sad;
Carry the sunshine where darkness is rife,
Making the sorrowing glad.

Make me a blessing, make me a blessing,
Out of my life may Jesus shine;
Make me a blessing, O Savior, I pray,
Make me a blessing to someone today.
2
Tell the sweet story of Christ and His love,
Tell of His pow’r to forgive;
Others will trust Him if only you prove
True, every moment you live.
3
Give as ’twas given to you in your need,
Love as the Master loved you;
Be to the helpless a helper indeed,
Unto your mission be true.

I was touched by the phrase, love as the Master loved you. Since I was loved by the Lord when I was still a vile sinner why would not I love others with the same love. That I would be a helper to the helpless and make the sorrowing glad.

May our life be a blessing to others. Amen

This morning during prayer, I was reminded of this song. I googled “make me a blessing”, and was ecstatic to find this. I’ve been replaying it. Its lyrics seem like an antidote to selfishness. Selflessness promotes and allows God's will to be fulfilled in one’s life.

While I was still in bed but awake, the spirit brought back this song to me as I thought about my uncle who is currently ill and admitted in hospital. It was then that my mind wonder away on the countless others who are suffering and are in need of care. If we could just make ourselves a blessing, especially to those in need, then our lives will become a beacon of light for our heavenly Master.

So much emotional abandonment. If we could focus on being a blessing to others, how much better we ourselves will be. This song rang in my spirit this morning. And for it, I am Blessed.

The Lord gave me this song this morning, after I had been praying for several people during my morning prayer time. It was so fitting to what I had just been doing, in the midst of personal struggles, lifting up others to God and praying over their lives. God is good! In the process of blessing others through us, God blesses us as well! We need only to focus on others, and all our problems will be taken care of!
