I recognized the author of the lyrics of this hymn before I even looked it up. I heard Brother Lee emphasize the matter of the Spirit and our spirit so much in the 70’s. I was nourished by this rich milk of the Word in this hymn.
We no longer worship in shadows but now we worship in Spirit and reality. This is how we live and meet. I am reminded of John 4: 23 (NIV) “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. ” And we now know that the Lord is the Spirit of Jesus Christ.
