Nearer, my God, to Thee

English614

Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee;
E’en though it be a cross
That raiseth me,
Still all my song shall be
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee.

Though, like a wanderer,
The sun gone down,
Darkness comes over me,
My rest a stone;
Yet in my dreams I’d be
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee.

There let me see the sight,
An open heaven;
All that Thou sendest me,
In mercy given;
Angels to beckon me
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee.

Then, with my waking thoughts
Bright with Thy praise,
Out of my stony griefs
Bethel I’ll raise,
So by my woes to be
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer, my God, to Thee,
Nearer to Thee.

I recommend this for my choir and when we performed it at state people in the audience, and even my choir, started crying because of how beautiful it is.

This song has so inspired me couldn't know the words, but I used to sing it when resting in my house, just thinking of the world I've never gone to and I'm still longing to see as I see myself changing and also getting very closer to God, I just used to hum it not knowing its deepest meaning.

Choosing to be nearer to God is the greatest decision I always make. I want to be nearer to Him with each passing day and this song serves as an ice-breaker. God is near us than we can ever imagine. Thanks for posting this song and thanks to the brother that remembered the 5th stanza and corrected the 1st 2 lines of the 3rd stanza. I hope these can be incorporated on this web page. God bless!
