We bless Thee, God and Father

Worship of the Father His Grace in Sonship

English48
1
We bless Thee, God and Father,
We joy before Thy face;
Beyond dark death for ever,
We share Thy Son’s blest place.
He lives a Man before Thee,
In cloudless light above,
In Thine unbounded favor,
Thine everlasting love.
2
His Father and our Father,
His God and ours Thou art;
And He is Thy Beloved,
The gladness of Thy heart.
We’re His, in joy He brings us
To share His part and place,
To know Thy love and favor,
The shining of Thy face.
3
Thy love that now enfolds us
Can ne’er wax cold or dim;
In Him that love doth center,
And we are loved in Him.
In Him Thy love and glory
Find their eternal rest;
The many sons—His brethren—
In Him, how near, how blest!

Matthew 11:25-27 says that: At that time Jesus answered and said, I extol You, Father, Lord of heaven and of earth, because You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants. Yes, Father, for thus it has been well pleasing in Your sight. All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one fully knows the Son except the Father; neither does anyone fully know the Father except the Son and him to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.

The Lord acknowledged with extolment the Father’s way in carrying out His economy. Although people, instead of responding to His ministry, slandered Him (vv. 16-19) and the leading cities rejected Him (vv. 20-24), He extolled the Father, acknowledging the Father’s will. He did not seek prosperity in His work but sought the Father’s will; His satisfaction and rest were not in being understood and welcomed by man but in being known by the Father (vv. 26-27).
