Living for Jesus a life that is true

Consecration Living for the Lord

English456
1
Living for Jesus a life that is true,
Striving to please Him in all that I do;
Yielding allegiance, glad-hearted and free,
This is the pathway of blessing for me.

O Jesus, Lord and Savior,
I give myself to Thee,
For Thou, in Thy [redemption],*
Didst give Thyself for me;
I own no other Master,
My heart shall be Thy throne,
My life I give, henceforth to live,
O Christ, for Thee alone.
2
Living for Jesus who died in my place,
Bearing on Calv’ry my sin and disgrace;
Such love constrains me to answer His call,
Follow His leading and give Him my all.
3
Living for Jesus wherever I am,
Doing each duty in His holy name;
Willing to suffer affliction and loss,
Deeming each trial a part of my cross.
4
Living for Jesus through earth’s little while,
My dearest treasure, the light of His smile;
Seeking the lost ones He died to redeem,
Bringing the weary to find rest in Him.

This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I grew up hearing my father sing this song and also hearing it at Glorieta Baptist Assembly ever summer during music week. The word "atonement" is accurate, appropriate, and a necessary doctrine. This song is a wonderful testimony to that doctrine and the original script should be retained and not changed by some "compilers" with an agenda.

I was sleeping in the semi-truck; I woke up with these words and melody in my mind/soul. Thank you for this resource to re-discover such treasures.

* the word is "atonement", a perfectly accurate biblical word, and should not be substituted because of the "compiler's preference"

I'm 51 and this song also just popped into my head. Couldn't remember all the words, so I looked it up. So thankful to be able to see it all to the Lord. Out loud, but certainly when I'm all alone. I'm memorizing scripture again, and that's when the song came to mind. Funny how the Lord will bring back the things we learned in our youth about Him. I pray He will do the same for my children. He is faithful!

We had this as a duet for one of our Sunday School Anniversaries many years ago. I am now in my 70s and the chorus popped into my head only yesterday but I couldn't remember the verse, so I googled it and sure enough there it is. The words speak of a total commitment to our Lord and Saviour, something we don't hear about much these days.

I learned this song as a very young boy in Sunday School over 60 years ago and for some reason it popped into my head today. I looked it up and found this wonderful website. Although this song is very old (like me) it still touches my heart even today. I am so happy that as a result of my up bringing, I am saved and know where I'm going (as my grandmother said:) "when I am no more." Of course THAT brings up another little song, "Thank you Lord for Saving My Soul".... (:-))

I memorized this song in our church's boys club, the Calvinist Cadets. At the time I liked singing it, but had no idea how much it would mean to me 60 years later. If you are a church leader and you want to instill something of value into youth, I cannot think of a better song. Only trouble is, someone might think you are old fashioned if you try to sing it today. I truly believe, that having not sung it in decades, the Holy Spirit resurrected it in my mind last night and gave me peace. I thank the men who led our boys club, now long departed, their work and influence lives on and on, decades later. The things we do for others, especially how we witness and serve, are the only things you have that will last after you are gone. May this song live on in the hearts of all who cherish its meaning.

I accepted the Lord as my Savior during Bible School when I was 9 years old. This was the theme song for that Bible School. I am 75 years old and still sing it all the time. It has been my "theme song" through my entire life. I sing the word "atonement" because that is what I learned and it has the correct meaning for me. I LOVE THIS SONG and it has helped me through many difficult situations. I will never stop singing it as long as I live.

I've enjoyed singing this hymn, it causes me to love the Lord more and consecrate myself to Him. His love is constraining us so that we can answer His call.. so that we can follow His leading and give Him our all.

"Oh Lord, we offer ourselves to You. Teach us to enjoy and experience You daily that we can live You. Living for You is a life that is true. May we give our lives for Thee alone".
