Thy way, not mine, O Lord

Longings For Christ’s Leading

English393
1
Thy way, not mine, O Lord,
However dark it be;
Lead me by Thine own hand,
Choose out the Path for me.
2
Smooth let it be, or rough,
It will be still the best;
Winding or straight it leads
Right onward to Thy rest.
3
I dare not choose my lot;
I would not if I might:
Choose Thou for me, my God,
So shall I walk aright.
4
Take Thou my cup, and it
With joy or sorrow fill,
As best to Thee may seem;
Choose Thou my good and ill.
5
Choose Thou for me my friends,
My sickness or my health.
Choose Thou my cares for me,
My poverty or wealth.
6
Not mine, not mine the choice,
In things both great and small;
Be Thou my guide, my strength,
My wisdom and my all.

The Second Thing to Do Is Believe

--------------

After we have surrendered ourselves, we must believe that God can deliver us from our love, our reluctance, and our inabilities. Psalm 37:5 says, “Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. ” To commit is to surrender. To trust is to believe, and the result is that He will bring it to pass. We can do nothing in ourselves. When we commit our ways to God, we believe that the Lord living within us will bring them to pass.

Can we say that we have overcome? Hallelujah! I can say that I have overcome, because the Bible tells me so. How pitiful that our faith is not as great as a grain of mustard seed. It is not even as great as a speck of dust! If we had faith, God would have worked already. God exercised only His mouth when He created the heavens and the earth; when He said let there be light, there was light. When we have faith, God will work, for He is willing to accomplish His own work.

I read Isaiah 14:24 and 27 about God's thought and I prayed for God to takeover my thought that I can think like God. Quickly this hymn came to my thought and I sung it meditatively. It is highly inspiring.

I have no will power of my own. I can't make a better choice for my self. My birth, my living, my existence are all his plans and from the foundation of my life he's in charge. I hense handover my entire entity into his might hands for divine direction.

I won't miss it anymore. He's all that I am and all that I have.

I’ve been praying for the life of a loved one in a critical condition and I just remembered this hymn. It is indeed a bold prayer & one that stirs in me an awareness of God’s sovereign will. The start and end of all created things, including my life, can be found only in Him. When I am at the heights of joy and the depths of sorrow, I can trust that He is with me in all seasons & He will be glorified in this, too. He alone is Lord and whatever the cost, may His perfect will prevail! Oh Lord, for faith to trust that Your way is best!

This hymn was always sung in my church, when I was young I never liked singing it because why would I want God to choose a life of pain for me but as I got older I realized through the spirit of God that his way be it hard or soft will always lead to him, his way is always best... I love this hymn Thank God for my spiritual teachings
