There is sunshine in my soul today

Someone sent this song for my Birthday. It was dreary outside but you can always have sunshine in your soul with Jesus in your Life! So true is that! A good Birthday Present.

I particularly like to sing this song during bleak winter weather.

Never heard this until pastor suggested it for my Daddy's funeral a few days ago. Sounds like what you feel when looking at Jesus.

I grew up in a church with hymns but attend a contemporary church now. So I do not hear hymns as often. For some reason, obviously God's reason, this popped in my head today and I've been singing the chorus over and over. I think it's my spirit testifying to the Spirit of God.

Hewitt was a school teacher but became debilitated by a spinal condition that may have come from a boy striking her in the back with a heavy slate while he was being disciplined. She was put in a heavy cast for 6 months. She wrote this hymn after getting her body cast off and being allowed a walk in the nearby park, in thankfulness at the joy of being able to get about again! 'Thank You Lord' for the internet! I have found this wonderful hymn after 50 years. It was a special hymn in my local church in Yorkshire, always the favourite of a blind preacher who often visited us - I remember how his face always shone when he sang this hymn & he was such a wonderful storyteller.

Using some of the words of this song tomorrow as part of a blessing for a hunger tea I am offeing at my church. Seems perfect for the occasion!

Every so often music memories provide a relief and an uplift that is unexpected. This morning I was struggling with an interpersonal relationship memory that tends to be very depressing. I hit a point when I needed to pray for help to move away from it. Gently, as I prayed, this song came back to me from 50 years ago or more. Now, my sunshine is back.

This song bring nostalgic feel. I remember been a little going to church every Sabbath with my cousins.

It has touched my soul. Anytime it's ringing in my soul. I love You Jesus for such a wonderful song. There is sunshine in my life today. Let the name of the Lord be glorified through Jesus' name. Amen.
