Amazing Grace

1
Amazing grace! how sweet the sound,
  That saved a wretch; like me!
I once was lost, but now am found,
  Was blind, but now I see.
2
’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
  And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
  The hour I first believed!
3
The Lord hath promised good to me,
  His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
  As long as life endures.
4
When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
  Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
  Than when we first begun.

God is amazing every day and forever. He never left me. And he never abandoned me. He loved me even in the times when I no longer gave him importance in my life, even in the times when I was looking for his presence. Even though I had sinned against him completely, and now, he has brought me back to him and changed me, and there are many things that amaze me so much about our God. No one can compare to our Lord. Amazing Grace Lord!

As a believer in God, but someone who prefers not to join any religion and also strongly wishes to abstain from praying to any this worldly saviour or prophet of any kind except for God themselves, in all their unity and in all their manifalticity, I've come to love this song precisely because of how it does not specify any golden cow, glorified human or other entity that then people could fight about again. Instead, it captures the all-encompassing love and benevolence of God who permeates us all and who we're all a part of, who lets us individuate and who takes as back into their indescribable indescriptiveness when we cease to be as individuals. As clear as its words are, so eternal are they as well. Beautiful! Thank you kindly whoever uploaded it here!

We are familiar with the hymn "Amazing Grace." Although this is a good hymn, it does not speak of the Triune God as our portion for our enjoyment. When this hymn was written, the experiential knowledge of God among the Lord's people had not come to this point. Even as recent as fifty years ago, Christians did not have the understanding of grace as the Triune God experienced and enjoyed by us. But standing on the shoulders of those who have gone before us, we have come to know that grace is far more than merely unmerited favor. Grace is the Triune God—the Father, the Son, and the Spirit—processed for our experience and enjoyment.
