There is a fountain filled with blood

Gospel The Blood

English1006
1
There is a fountain filled with blood
Drawn from Immanuel’s veins;
And sinners, plunged beneath that flood,
Lose all their guilty stains:
Lose all their guilty stains,
Lose all their guilty stains;
And sinners, plunged beneath that flood,
Lose all their guilty stains.
2
The dying thief rejoiced to see
That fountain in his day;
And there may I, though vile as he,
Wash all my sins away:
Wash all my sins away,
Wash all my sins away;
And there may I, though vile as he,
Wash all my sins away.
3
Dear dying Lamb, Thy precious blood
Shall never lose its power,
Till all the ransomed ones of God
Be saved, to sin no more:
Be saved, to sin no more,
Be saved, to sin no more;
Till all the ransomed ones of God,
Be saved to sin no more.
4
E’er since by faith I saw the stream
Thy flowing wounds supply,
Redeeming love has been my theme,
And shall be till I die:
And shall be till I die,
And shall be till I die;
Redeeming love has been my theme,
And shall be till I die.
5
When this poor lisping, stammering tongue
Lies silent in the grave,
Then in a nobler, sweeter song,
I’ll sing Thy power to save:
I’ll sing Thy power to save,
I’ll sing Thy power to save;
Then in a nobler, sweeter song,
I’ll sing Thy power to save.

This powerful hymn has been a blessing to the body of Christ. In a vision in Ezekiel 47, the prophet saw a river flowing from the threshold of the Temple. In verse 9, it says, "where the river flows everything will live". So it is with the crimson flood flowing from Immanuel's vein: anyone who takes a plunge in it will live!

Although we were items on sale in Satan’s shopping center, Christ came to purchase us, to redeem us. He paid a very high price to buy us—the price of His precious blood. Satan did not want Christ to buy us. Satan’s plan was that we would be bought by someone else. Therefore, when Satan realized that Christ had come to purchase us, he caused a great deal of trouble. Unwilling to release us, to let us go, he raised up many obstacles and barriers to frustrate Christ from purchasing us. Nevertheless, Christ died on the cross and shed His precious blood to redeem us. From our side, we were purchased, but from Satan’s side, we were redeemed.

The blood that redeemed us was an extraordinary kind of blood—the blood of the God-man, Jesus Christ, the man whose life reached the highest standard. The Lord Jesus is a man mingled with God. Therefore, when this man died on the cross, God also passed through death. No human words are adequate to explain this.

Only the blood of Christ was qualified and sufficient to redeem us, to purchase us. We had been put on sale by the enemy Satan, our usurper. But Christ, our Redeemer, paid the highest price to purchase us. Peter speaks of this in verses 18 and 19.

I woke up this morning hearing this line from the song in my mind over and over again: "Redeeming love has been my theme and shall be 'till I die".

Thank you Lord Jesus Christ for your redemption plan that includes me!

The order of words in the last verse is wrong:

Should be:

Then in a nobler, sweeter song,
I'll sing Thy power to save;
When this poor lisping, stammering tongue,
Lies silent in the grave

Both Dad now Mom are in heaven now, but their teachings of Christ live on. This song was a part of the 1st Sunday communion service. I can remember the whole order of communion - the Methodist order. Dad the pastor with the aid Mom the senior stewardess and me (among others) a junior stewardess, helped pass out the bread and wine while the whole congregation sung this song.

I love you Mom and Dad. Thank. you for being wonderful parents and servants of God.

I went to bed last night feeling very guilty about my sin, and that I had deeply offended God! I woke up this morning with this song in my spirit, I heard it playing in my mind. I hadn’t heard this song in years, I truly believe that the Holy Spirit put it there as a reminder to me of the power of the blood of Jesus! Thank you Lord, you have washed all my sins away, I have lost all of my guilty stains! Hallelujah!
