Down from His glory

1
Down from His glory,
  Ever living story,
My God and Savior came,
  And Jesus was His name.
Born in a manger,
  To His own a stranger,
A Man of sorrows, tears and agony.
O how I love Him! How I adore Him!
My breath, my sunshine, my all in all!
The great Creator became my Savior,
And all God’s fulness dwelleth in Him.
2
What condescension,
  Bringing us redemption;
That in the dead of night,
Not one faint hope in sight,
God, gracious, tender,
  Laid aside His splendor,
Stooping to woo, to win, to save my soul.
3
Without reluctance,
  Flesh and blood His substance
He took the form of man,
  Revealed the hidden plan.
O glorious myst’ry,
  Sacrifice of Calv’ry,
And now I know Thou art the great “I AM.”

What a beautiful Saviour we have! So many tears of inexpressible joy flowed over and over for our Creator God, what mercy, what compassion, what love!

I've loved this song since the Early '60s. It's probably my favorite. My solo voice isn't what it was then, but I plan to sing it soon. My own music was in storage. I'm so happy to find this online. Praise God for all He is and all He's done for us.

I have heard this song first in my native language in Romania. I loved the melody and the message. Strange, but I have never heard it sang in any of the American churches I attended. So, I would like to learn it well to be able to sing it in my church. I am so grateful I found the words and music sheet. I hope this song will bless others as well.

What a wonderful hymn I used to listen to it sung by Jack Holcombe in 1960s at my grand parents Farm in Ohio. The beautiful truth of the Savior's glory will continue until He comes again. Hallelujah!
