Master, speak! Thy servant heareth

Master, speak! Thy servant heareth,
  Waiting for Thy gracious word,
Longing for Thy voice that cheereth
  Master, let it now be heard.
I am list’ning, Lord, for Thee;
What hast Thou to say to me?
Often through my heart is pealing
  Many another voice than Thine,
Many an unwilled echo stealing
  From the walls of this Thy shrine.
Let Thy longed-for accents fall;
Master, speak! and silence all.
Master, speak! though least and lowest,
  Let me not unheard depart;
Master, speak! for oh, Thou knowest
  All the yearning of my heart.
Knowest all its truest need;
Speak! and make me blest indeed.
Master, speak! and make me ready,
  When Thy voice is truly heard,
With obedience glad and steady,
  Still to follow every word
I am listening, Lord, for Thee:
Master, speak, oh, speak to me!
Speak to me by name, O Master,
  Let me know it is to me;
Speak, that I may follow faster,
  With a step more firm and free,
Where the Shepherd leads the flock
In the shadow of the Rock!

Searched for this as a prayer from my youth . We need clear guidance of a way forward for our church just now

I have loved this song since my high school days in the 70s when I gave my life to Christ.

Every time I sing , then I open the bible the Lord speaks to me.

I particularly love "often my heart is pealing, many another voice than thine... master speak and silence all!

Many a times when there is confusion of so many voices, the Lord has spoken and silence all other voices and makes his voice clear, I get to know his will for my life and my dear ones

This hymn is not just a song , its a prayer, a communication with My Master-How I love it! Even now -Master speak , am listening

Just been meditating on the Transfiguration Matt 17:5

This is my beloved Son, with whom I'm well pleased; listen to Him

Then this hymn came to mind - it is so fitting!! Amazing!!

You have touched my heart with the comments about your pastor.

The lesson for me is that even as we worship, we are leaving a permanent mark on those we lead in worship, and that our worship is being observed.
