When morning gilds the skies

When morning gilds the skies,
My heart awaking cries:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Alike at work and prayer
To Jesus I repair:
May Jesus Christ be praised!
To Thee, my God above,
I cry with glowing love,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
The fairest graces spring
In hearts that ever sing,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Does sadness fill my mind?
A solace here I find,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Or fades my earthly bliss?
My comfort still is this,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
When evil thoughts molest,
With this I shield my breast,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
The powers of darkness fear,
When this sweet chant they hear,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
When sleep her balm denies,
My silent spirit sighs,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
The night becomes as day,
When from the heart we say,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Be this, while life is mine,
My canticle divine,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Be this th’ eternal song
Through all the ages long,
May Jesus Christ be praised!

Faithful is the Lord our God. We sung this beautiful hymnal in my early basic school years, and I remember how the golden morning sun rays spread its light across the skies. It seems those memories will always be with me anytime I remember and sing this beautiful hymn. God bless the composers!

This morning as the sunlight streamed through the departing clouds, following several days of steady rain, I was reminded of this beautiful hymn. I remember singing it quite often in our home church. As a youngster I may have thought it was too long, but the words each verse are so meaningful to me now. Wish the old hymns would be sung more often in our churches today. Young people need to "feel" these words today, as they sing, in worship to God the Father!

I first sang this hymn in school. We had an hour every week day before class dedicated to praise and prayer. Now am grown, I understand; and I cherish the time spent with the Lord first thing upon waking. May Jesus Christ be praised for those teachers.

May schools return praise and prayer to the curriculum.

The light of dawn, the sunrise, signifies Christ in His coming (Prov. 4:18, footnote 1, Recovery Version). This beautiful morning the sunlight was gilding the clouds in the skies, reminding me of Christ imminent return, and I had to exclaim “May Jesus Christ be praised! ”

Another new day as the morning awakens! Amidst the difficulties of health and daily pressures, I must look for God’s presence and guidance. Each verse of this hymn expresses a bit of the life I face on earth. Throughout my life, may Jesus Christ be praised!

The beautiful winter sun rises and peeks through the bare trees to reveal its lovely colors, this song comes to mind. May Jesus Christ be praised knowing that He is ever present in our daily lives.

Whatever happens to us, You are still worthy of our praises! You are enthroned upon our praises. No matter how our outward situations or inward conditions may be, we will still praise You, worthy One! We begin this year by praising You for who you are. Keep us praising You all the days of our lives!

The Lord brought this song of praise to me this morning after an attack from Satan last night He is worthy to be praised who lifted me and at the name of Jesus demons will have to flee
