1
O Christ, He is the fountain,
  The deep, sweet well of life:
Its living streams I’ve tasted
  Which save from grief and strife.
And to an ocean fulness,
  His mercy doth expand;
His grace is all-sufficient
  As by His wisdom planned.
2
O I am my Beloved’s,
  And my Beloved’s mine;
He brings a poor vile sinner
  Into His house of wine!
I stand upon His merit;
  I know no other stand.
I’m hidden in His presence
  And held by His own hand.
3
The Bride eyes not her garment,
  But her dear Bridegroom’s face;
I will not gaze at glory,
  But on my King of grace:
Not at the crown He giveth,
  But on His pierced hand;
The Lamb is all the glory,
  And my eternal stand!

37. The Fountain of Life

Psalm 36:9a says, “With thee is the fountain of life. ” Christ is the fountain of life in the house of God, the church. In God’s house the saints partake of Christ as such a fountain.

Psalm 36:9a is fulfilled in John 4:14. In His conversation with the Samaritan woman the Lord Jesus indicated to her that she needed the living Son of God as the fountain to become a spring of water welling up within her. First He said, “If you knew the gift of God... you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water” (John 4:10). God’s gift includes both His Son and the divine life. These two are one gift, for the divine life is in the Son (1 John 5:11-12), and the Son actually is the divine life (John 14:6). The thirst in human life can only be satisfied by the One who has been given to us as eternal life. For this reason, the Lord went on to say, “Everyone who drinks of this water shall thirst again” (4:13). “This water” signifies the enjoyment of material and worldly things. Only one “water” can satisfy us for eternity—Jesus Christ. He satisfies today, tomorrow, and forever. Therefore, the Lord said, “Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall by no means thirst forever; but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a spring of water welling up into eternal life” (v. 14). We have received Him, and He has become a spring of water welling up within us into eternal life.

On the one hand, Christ is the fountain of living water; on the other hand, He is the spring. In God He is the fountain, but in us He is the spring. When He enters into us and dwells in us, He becomes a spring of water welling up into eternal life. Whenever He wells up in us we are brought into eternal life, and our thirst is quenched.

Psalm 36:9a is also fulfilled in Revelation 21:6: “I will give to him who thirsts from the spring of the water of life freely. ” This spring is Christ Himself. In eternity and for eternity we, the sons of God, shall enjoy Christ as the spring of the water of life.

49. The Center of the Triune God

in the Divine Dispensing

In 2 Corinthians 13:14 Paul says, “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. ” The love, grace, and fellowship in this verse correspond to the Father, the Son, and the Spirit in Matthew 28:19. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ means that Christ is grace and that grace is Christ. Likewise, the love of God means that God is love and that love is God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit means that the Holy Spirit is the fellowship and that the fellowship is the Holy Spirit. Hence, grace is Christ, love is God, and fellowship is the Holy Spirit. God as love is the source; Christ, the embodiment of God, as grace is the course; and the Spirit as fellowship is the flow in the course that reaches us for our application.

Second Corinthians 13:14 reveals Christ as the center of the Triune God in the divine dispensing. Christ is the center of the Triune God. He is the Son with the Father as the Spirit. Within Him is the Father, and He is the Spirit. If we have Christ, we have the Father, and we also have the Spirit. Therefore, if we desire to know Him, we must know the Spirit, because the Father is in the Son, and the Son is the Spirit. Also, if we desire to know the Son with the Father, we must know the Spirit. It is in Christ that the processed Triune God is dispensing Himself into the tripartite believers to be their element for their experience and enjoyment.

Praise the Lord! Triune God flows into us in the Divine Trinity in three stages: the Father is the fountain, the Son is the spring, and the Spirit is the river – and the destination is the eternal life, the New Jerusalem! Hallelujah!

All we need to do is be open to the Lord and enjoy the flowing river of water of life moment by moment! The Water of Life is Flowing from the House of God. Oh Lord Jesus we love you ❤️

This synergistic hymn is deep, sweet, and precious just like our dear Lord. Just think- every time a believer calls on the Lord or declares "Lord Jesus I love you! ", that calling hastens His long awaited return to join with His beloved bride.

I will not gaze at glory, But on my King of Grace

Not at the crown He giveth, but on His pierced hand

God's dealing with His redeemed people through the Trinity was for the purpose of keeping them in the enjoyment of His riches through His divine dispensing. Without the Angel of Jehovah, Jehovah had no way to go with them in their midst. For Jehovah to be with His people, there was the need of the Angel. Today without Christ, God has no way to be with us. Furthermore, the cloud and the pillar of cloud were necessary for God to come to His people and stay with them. Similarly, today the Spirit, the pneumatic Christ, enables God to come to us and stay with us so that we may enjoy His presence. The crucified Christ as the cleft rock is our standing and hiding before the manifested God. Hymns, #298 says, "On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; / All other ground is sinking sand." Hymns, #206 says, "I stand upon His merit; / I know no other stand." Because the crucified Christ, Christ in His death, is our standing and our hiding, we can communicate with and contact God. The merciful and governmental God and the rebellious, stiff-necked people can be brought together only through the Angel, the pillar of cloud, the cleft rock, and the hand of Jehovah, which typify Christ as God's sent One, the pneumatic Christ, Christ in His death, and Christ as the covering in God's manifestation. Because of the operation of the Trinity in this way, we now enjoy God's continual presence. Moreover, He manifests Himself to us, and we see Him in a hidden way. We have a standing and a hiding, a covering. This all-inclusive care of the Divine Trinity is for the purpose of His remaining with us to dispense Himself for our enjoyment.
