This song came to my heart about a week ago. It's such a great timeless gospel hymn!! I remember singing it in church! I'm glad I was able to find it here!! Yes indeed we are closer everyday to the coming of our Lord Jesus!! Let's keep praying witnessing and encouraging one another in the body of Christ!!
Spokane, Washington, United States
Maybe this song was translated into another language, then back to English. It's close enough. All the verses are beautiful and wonderful. We can sing every one of them in praise to God for the peace that lies just beyond. Hallelujah brethren, we are very close to the Eternal Kingdom!

Amen, Lord Jesus. The cross is the razor that shaves our flesh daily.
Kuje, FCT, Nigeria
Sing on all you soldiers of the cross with Heaven in view, because we will soon cross the river to find eternal REST. HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!
Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada
The chorus I grew up with was:
"In the cross, in the cross
Be my glory ever,
Til at last my soul shall find
Rest beyond the river."
This was in a tiny Baptist church in Englehart, Ontario, Canada.
Zaria, Kaduna, Nigeria
This Song Has Blessed my life and will Continue to Bless me. My singular Prayer for the Writer of this Hymn is That She Finds Rest Beyond The River...Haleluyah...
Nigeria
(Chorus)
In the cross, in the cross,
Be my glory ever;
till my raptured soul shall find
rest beyond the River
Blantyre, Malawi
The significance of the Cross in our Christian lives cannot be over emphasized, to be victorious one has to choose the Cross without hesitation. Jesus Christ died for all believers; what is important to make a closer step each day towards the golden strand with the Messiah by your side in order to attain the peaceful rest beyond that river.
Lagos, Nigeria
The original words of the hymn are deeply inspiring. The fourth stanza states -
Near the cross I'll watch and wait,
Hoping Trusting Ever
Till I reach the golden strand,
Just beyond the river.
And the chorus states-
In the cross, in the cross
Be my glory ever
Till my raptured soul shall find
Rest beyond the river.
Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria
Please I'd like to know how to play piano. Also we be use in our church. Thanks.
Great job.
