Nigeria
Good morning to you LORD JESUS...
Lagos, Nigeria
Oh dear Lord, may we not forget the words of this beautiful and inspiring hymn. Morning, afternoon and evening. We love you daily, Lord, as we sorjourn this sin-soacked wicked world!
Detroit, Michigan, United States
One of my favorite hymns. My favorite stanza is stanza #5.
In stanza 1, last line, "lay" is an old English word for a short song or poem.
In stanza 2, last line, "rills" are small streams.
There are additional stanzas below:
-------------------
3b Awake, cold lips, and sing!
Arise, dull knees, and pray;
Lift up, O man, thy heart and eyes;
Brush slothfulness away.
-----------------
3c Look up, beyond these clouds!
Thither thy pathway lies;
Mount up, away, and linger not,
Thy goal is yonder skies.
------------------
3d Cast every weight aside!
Do battle with each sin;
Fight with the faithless world without,
The faithless heart within.
-------------------
3e Take thy first meal with God!
He is thy heavenly food;
Feed with and on Him; He with thee
Will feast in brotherhood.
Vallejo, CA, United States
This hymn can be sung to the tune of #459. Father, we seek Your face first thing each morning. Dear Lord Jesus, You are our joy.
Orlando, Florida, United States
This song has been ringing in my thoughts because at school we use to sing it almost every morning. I am so glad I have found the words. They are so inspiring! A great old hymn.
Likasi, Katanga, Democratic Republic Of Congo
Beloved Lord Jesus, I need to take my first walk everyday with You, O my God!
I want to let You go forth with me;
By stream, or sea, or mountain path,
I need Your help. Bless me now.
London, United Kingdom
"Dear Lord Jesus, call us morning by morning as we rise from our slumber to spend time with You. Lord, do be the beginning of all our mornings. We love You, dearest One."
Kottayam, Kerala, India
Yes my days begin with the Lord.
