About Numbered Notation

Numbered Notation (also called Jianpu, 简谱) writes each melody note as a number from 1 to 7 instead of a note on a staff. The number shows the note's position in the song's scale -- not its exact pitch -- so the same tune looks identical no matter what key it's sung in.

Within one octave, the numbers 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 correspond to the familiar do re mi fa sol la ti. A dot above a number raises it an octave higher; a dot below lowers it an octave lower -- no dot means the middle, as-written octave.

A plain number lasts one beat. A dash (-) right after a number holds that same note for one more beat. A line underneath a number shortens it instead -- one line is half a beat, two lines a quarter of a beat. A 0 is a rest: silence for one beat.

The label at the top of the sheet, like "1=C" or "1=Ab", shows which pitch scale degree 1 ("do") is tuned to. A song in a minor key is labeled "6=X" instead -- scale degree 6 ("la") is the true tonic. Chord names printed above the notes (like "C" or "G7") always use their familiar letter names, never numbers.

For example, under a "1=C" heading, the numbers 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 sound as C D E F G A B. Under a "1=G" heading, those very same numbers sound as G A B C D E F# instead -- same shape, different key.

Abide in Me, and I in you

Experience of Christ Abiding in Him

New Songs123

Abide in Me, and I in you,
As the branch cannot bear fruit
Of itself unless
It abides in the vine,
So neither can you
Unless you abide in Me.
1
I am the vine,
You are the branches,
He who abides in Me and I in him.
He bears much fruit
For apart from Me you can do nothing.
2
If you abide in Me and my words abide in you
Ask whatever you will and it will be done for you.
When we abide in the Lord and let His words abide in us,
We actually are one with Him and He works within us.
Then when we ask in prayer for whatever we will
It is not only we who are praying
He too is praying, in our praying.
This kind of prayer is related to fruit bearing
and will surely be answered.
3
You did not choose Me, but I chose you and I set you.
That you should go forth and bear fruit,
And that your fruit should remain,
That whatever you ask the Father in my name,
He may give you.

The words to this song drip the Lord's precious grace. If anyone has a webpage that I can go to to listen to someone sing this, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm not musically inclined, so trying to listen to the music and place where the words go.... well, it's a challenge. Thank you, and may the love of Jesus richly abound in you!

Looking for a song that I would sing about "real growth" during a nation Pastors conference, I was so blessed when when I came across this song. This song is an answer to prayer. Praise God!

Amen, how we need to abide in the Lord continually and we should not be independent to Him. O Lord Jesus, I should take You as my Head. Apart from You Lord I can do nothing. Thank You that I'm part of this vine.

Right. You did not choose Me, but I chose you and I set you.
That you should go forth and bear fruit,
And that your fruit should remain,

Thank You Lord.

That was me. But God you saved me, this must be my new life. Otherwise I will continue to be lost.

Amen Lord without You I can do nothing! Regardless of capacity, capability everything in the Lord is vain. The only worth to God should come from Christ. Lord Jesus, Lord Jesus, continue to make home in my hearts, occupy my whole being so that it is Christ and only Christ will operate through me.
