Jesus! that name we love

1
Jesus! that name we love,
  Jesus, our Lord!
Jesus, all names above,
  Jesus, the Lord!
Thou, Lord, our all must be;
Nothing that’s good have we,
Nothing apart from Thee.
  Jesus, our Lord!
2
As Son of Man it was,
  Jesus, the Lord!
Thou gav’st Thy life for us,
  Jesus, our Lord!
Great was indeed Thy love,
All other loves above,
Love Thou didst dearly prove,
  Jesus, our Lord!
3
Righteous alone in Thee,
  Jesus, the Lord!
Thou wilt a refuge be,
  Jesus, our Lord!
Whom, then, have we to fear,
What trouble, grief, or care,
Since Thou art ever near,
  Jesus, our Lord!
4
Soon Thou wilt come again,
  Jesus, the Lord!
We shall be happy then,
  Jesus, our Lord!
When Thine own face we see,
Then shall we like Thee be,
Then evermore with Thee,
  Jesus, our Lord!

Lord, we have nothing good apart from You. Be our all, Lord Jesus. Our Lord's dear, lovely name appears 14 times in this song—let's take these 14 opportunities and many more to enjoy His name and His dear person. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!

Whom, then, have we to fear,

What trouble, grief, or care,

Since Thou art ever near,

Jesus, our Lord!

Reminds me of Isaiah 41:10 & Isaiah 55:6

In the book of Luke, Jesus had two names: Jesus, "Jehovah Savior," as he was called by the angels, and Immanuel, meaning "God with man." Jesus is truly the name we love!

I love this hymn, both the melody, meter and words. This hymn draws out our heart’s longing for the Lord as we, the church, are but a “widow” now on earth since our Husband is not here.

“We shall be happy then...”

Don’t give in to the temptation to change the word “then” to “now” for there is a deeper and proper meaning hidden within it.
