Dear Lord, Thou art the Tree of Life

The reference to the Lord as the Lord as a “Plant of Fame" in stanza 9 is from Ezek 34:29 "And I will raise up for them a planting place of renown, and they will no longer be consumed with famine in the land and no longer bear the disgrace of the nations." The King James version renders this as "a plant of renown".

Our Christ is the sprouting Rod with God! In Him is endless life!

Hebrews 9:4 says "Having a golden altar and the ark of the covenant covered about everywhere with gold, in which were the golden pot that had the manna and Aaron's rod that budded and the tablets of the covenant"

In the ark is the budding rod signifying the resurrected Christ in our spirit.

The budding rod signifies that Christ, the resurrected One, should be our life, our living, and the resurrection life within us, and that this life should bud, blossom, and bear almonds. Is the Christ within you budding? Do not say yes doctrinally, but answer according to your experience. (Life-Study of Hebrews, Chapter 62, Section 1)

In Stanza 8, He is the swimming Stick, and we are the fallen "ax". Just appreciate the footnotes in 2 Kings 6:6, float. Truly our Lord's death on the cross recovered us, the sinners. God made us alive by imparting His eternal life, which is Christ Himself into our dead spirit through His Spirit of life. Praise the Lord! He has enlivened us together with Christ (Eph. 2:5).

Re: Stanza 9, Line 1

Is it "Plant of Flame" instead of "Fame"?

Thank You Lord for being the Tree of Life to be our very life supply, daily our hunger You really satisfy. Yes, You are our very source of life. If we live by You and abide in You, we can surely rest from all our strife.

In Genesis chapter two we see the tree of life which is the symbol of Christ as life to us. This hymn has opened my eyes to see that throughout the Scriptures we see the marvelous unfolding of the revelation of Christ as the tree of life. He is so much! May we give ourselves to enjoy Christ as the tree of life throughout the Bible!
