I love to tell the story

1
I love to tell the story
  Of unseen things above,
Of Jesus and His glory,
  Of Jesus and His love.
I love to tell the story,
  Because I know ’tis true;
It satisfies my longings
  As nothing else can do.
  I love to tell the story,
’Twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old, old story
  of Jesus and His love.
2
I love to tell the story;
  More wonderful it seems
Than all the golden fancies
  Of all my golden dreams,
I love to tell the story,
  It did so much for me;
And that is just the reason
  I tell it now to thee.
3
I love to tell the story;
  ’Tis pleasant to repeat
What seems each time I tell it,
  More wonderfully sweet.
I love to tell the story;
  For some have never heard
The message of salvation
  From God’s own holy Word.
4
I love to tell the story;
  For those who know it best
Seem hungering and thirsting
  To hear it like the rest.
And when, in scenes of glory,
  I sing the new, new song,
’Twill be the old, old story,
  That I have loved so long.

I first heard this as a young Christian over 50 years ago. Ive been going through a refreshing of my faith and relationship with Jesus recently and this morning a few words surfaced from memory. I am now experiencing afresh what He always intended for me.. intimacy with assurance and joy in Him.

I woke up in the middle of the night with the words to the last verse of this wonderful old hymn running through my head. I just had to look it up so I could sing the whole song!

Holy Spirit let me sing this song as I woke up this morning early. As an evangelist preaching the gospel amongst the people group this song spoke to me.... Keep telling the old old story

“It satisfies my longings as nothing else can do. ”

How wonderful is the satisfaction that is only found in Jesus Christ. The sooner we realize that the better! Psalm 107:9

I do love this old hymn. I once knew an old married couple who were so full of the holy spirit that they would tell others the old story no matter where they were located at the time. My dad came out of the grocery store one time and I saw that he’d been crying. He had a bright smile on his face. Apparently, old Brother Eidson had been in the store and they had begun sharing what Jesus had done for them during their walk on this earth and both had rejoiced in the Lord there, in the store because, as the song implies they loved sharing the old story with each other, for it fed them and quenched their thirst to hear it all again. It never grows old, does it? I can never hear it enough...

Typical of what is enjoying at the Apostolic Faith Church. Such an inspiring song to build faith and reverence to God.

This song reminds me of when me and my dad were performed it on stage but he passed in April of 2020
