Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling

1
Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling—
  Calling for you and for me;
Patiently Jesus is waiting and watching—
  Watching for you and for me!
  Come home! come home!
  Ye who are weary, come home!
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
    Calling, O sinner, come home!
2
Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading—
  Pleading for you and for me?
Why should we linger and heed not His mercies—
  Mercies for you and for me?
3
Time is now fleeting, the moments are passing—
  Passing from you and from me;
Shadows are gathering, death-beds are coming—
  Coming for you and for me!
4
Oh, for the wonderful love He has promised—
  Promised for you and for me!
Though we have sinned, He has mercy and pardon—
  Pardon for you and for me!

This beautiful song brought me back to JESUS after wandering around. Now I know HE wants me back no matter what. It is a blessing, this song.

Love this song so much, it keeps coming and coming, been trying to download the vocal but no success, just instruments, it touches the heart, melts the spirit and put me back on track. Plz help me with the vocal, really need it.

My mum's favourite hymn. My eight year old daughter sang it at her Nanna's funeral, beautifully and tenderly, I am sure Jesus was smiiing.

I was searching for a hymn to sing along as I prayed and this song came to me and gave me the inspiration I needed to pray better. Jesus is never tired of waiting and watching out for us. Come home, He tells us always and find peace.

We used to sing this gospel at our church in Inuktitut (back then Eskimo) way up in the arctic coast. That was between 50 and 60 years ago. I'm now 66 years old. The community was so clean and pristine, calm waters during our short summer.

This takes me back to my very young childhood, 3 generations singing this in perfect harmony as dinner was being prepared in my grandmother's old farmhouse. 2 of those 3 generations are Home. HalleluYah. Mom and I will join them soon enough, He is on His way.
