Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart

Longings For Vision of Christ

Neue Lieder345
1
Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art;
Thou my best thought, by day or by night;
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.
2
Be Thou my wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father and I, Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.
3
Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise;
Thou mine inheritance, now and always;
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart;
O King of glory, my treasure Thou art.
4
O King of glory, my victory won;
Rule and reign in me ’til Thy will be done;
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall;
Still be my vision, O Ruler of all.

Where are the other verses? What about the battleshied sword for the fight. This is my favourite hymn, but some of it is missing, and some translated incorrectly.

I'm Irish at heart and have the background. I have loved this hymn all my life and the older version verses are the better ones. I want it played or sung at my funeral also as somebody else noted below. It is ME!
