Onward Christian soldiers

Spiritual Warfare Marching On

English871
1
Onward Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
Going on before.
Christ, the royal Master,
Leads against the foe;
Forward into battle,
See, His banners go!

Onward, Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus,
Going on before.
2
At the name of Jesus
Satan’s host doth flee;
On then, Christian soldiers,
On to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver
At the shout of praise:
Brothers, lift your voices,
Loud your anthems raise!
3
Like a mighty army
Moves the Church of God:
Brothers, we are treading
Where the saints have trod;
We are not divided,
All one Body we—
One in faith and Spirit,
One eternally.
4
Crowns and thrones may perish,
Kingdoms rise and wane;
But the Church of Jesus
Constant will remain.
Gates of hell can never
’Gainst the Church prevail;
We have Christ’s own promise,
Which can never fail.
5
Onward, then, ye people!
Join our happy throng;
Blend with ours your voices
In the triumph song.
Glory, laud and honor
Unto Christ, the King;
This through countless ages
Men and angels sing.

Yesterday was sad day with the assassination of Charlie Kirk. This song came to my mind as a reminder that we need to pick up our banners and continue to march on. The victory is ours and the gates of hell will not prevail. Onward…

One of the hymns I remember most from my childhood. Looked it up as I couldn’t remember all the words. A true comforting hymn! “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord”. Psalm 150:2

A very reassuring hymn, reassuring in the sense that God is with one and that the Lord of host is the one leading the battle.

It gives me assurance with the fact that, God is for us and no one can be against us

Not to loose focus but to keep moving

In elementary school, I went to a Christian Day School, and every morning, after saying the Pledge of Alliance and a morning prayer, we sang that song. One of my favorites, even to this day.

A Christian song both in season and out of season!
Christlike soldiers arise!
The gate of hell shall not prevail!

May the body of Christ continue to wax stronger and the altar burning for CHRIST.

Amen.
