Experience of God As Life

English8442
1
Caught by the foe, imprisoned, we;
In death’s domain, by sin enslaved;
God’s loving care and sympathy
Brought us to Christ—by grace we’re saved!

Grace has regenerated us
With a new spirit and new heart.
His Spirit’s in our spirit thus,
That of His nature we take part.
2
God sprinkled us with waters fresh
To put off idols and their stain;
Our heart of stone He turned to flesh,
A new creation to obtain.
3
Yes, God Himself’s our life—how blest!
His divine nature’s ours today
That we may match His holiness.
All His commands live day by day.
4
He is our God; His people, we;
Our fellowship—how near, how dear.
Our blessing and portion is He;
We’ll ne’er depart, nor elsewhere veer.
5
Our Christ is now our dwelling place,
And we enjoy His rich supply.
He is our life, our food, our grace;
Eternally, He’ll satisfy.

I really enjoy the inspiration provided in hymns. The man who wrote this really saw our pitiful condition and how we are saved by grace. There is a sentiment here that touches my renewed mind. The song points to what Christ has done and how crucial our fellowship with Him Is.! Yes, we can have fellowship with the very God and be one with Him! We must experience this every day!

I’ve also sung this version:

Once I was captured by the foe,
Death’s prisoner, enslaved by sin;
But in compassion, tenderly,
God brought me back to Christ again!
I am reborn! What wondrous grace!
New spirit and new heart He gave!
His Spirit into mine’s been placed;
His nature I may now partake!
With water clean He sprinkled me;
From filth and idols set me free.
Stone heart with heart of flesh replaced;
His new creation making me!
Yes, God Himself is now my life;
His nature is forever mine.
All His commands I can fulfill,
Since I possess His life divine!
He is my God and I am His;
Our fellowship—how near, how dear.
He is my blessed portion full;
I’ll never leave Him, never veer!
God’s Christ is now my dwelling place;
He is my bountiful supply.
By eating Him, the bread of life,
I am forever satisfied!

How I have been appreciating God's Christ this morning. He is the One commissioned and annointed by God to carry out all of His desires, His divine, eternal will. How much confidence God has in Him. How much we can trust Him too to bring us absolutely to where God wants us to be. This thought is so sweet and comforting to me. This hymn came to me this morning, but didn't realize the last stanza would even hold a deeper thought of God's Christ. How much He loves!
