What a Friend we have in Jesus

Prayer Telling the Lord

English789
1
What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
2
Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
3
Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.

I am memorizing the words to this hymn, so I can sing it out for friends when we pray together. What a blessing. I know the composer had many hardships in life, but also faith to hold onto.

My classmate posted this on WhatsApp today. I was surprised I hadn’t included it in my list of “Hymns I love to Sing” so I came looking for its lyrics. I love this all-time great. It is a privilege to have a Friend in Jesus who carries my burden and is available ANY time. It’s 02:55AM - and He’s right here with me. PTL

Recently I have been having a lot of set back in my spiritual journey and it seems I'm getting further away everyday. Woke up this morning with a strong desire to re write the story, pick up the baton and start again, I'm glad he is my only true friend and he will accept me back, I'm glad he knows my weaknesses and he will help me overcome them, I'm glad he knows all my trials and temptations and he will help me overcome them. No matter how far we have stray away from Jesus, we can always pick up baton and start again. It's never to late to start again, as far there is life there is hope. For a living dog is better than a dead lion.
