Teach me to pray, Lord, teach me to pray

Prayer The Teaching

English766
1
Teach me to pray, Lord, teach me to pray;
This is my heart-cry day unto day;
I long to know Thy will and Thy way;
Teach me to pray, Lord, teach me to pray.

Living in Thee, Lord, and Thou in me,
Constant abiding, this is my plea;
Grant me Thy power, boundless and free,
Power with men and power with Thee.
2
Power in prayer, Lord, power in prayer!
Here ’mid earth’s sin and sorrow and care,
Men lost and dying, souls in despair;
O give me power, power in prayer!
3
My weakened will, Lord, Thou canst renew;
My sinful nature Thou canst subdue;
Fill me just now with power anew;
Power to pray and power to do!
4
Teach me to pray, Lord, teach me to pray;
Thou art my pattern day unto day;
Thou art my surety, now and for aye;
Teach me to pray, Lord, teach me to pray.

This is the melody and lyrics that I grew up singing. I am able to find music on your site that I'm unable to find elsewhere but I have not been able to print chord sheets. I can see the music but printed on top of it is very large bold print. Are we not allowed to have access to this music?

We did not sing this hymn very often (ever) but this is the same song, both melody and lyrics that I remember (mostly from back in the ‘60s).

More things in this world are accomplished through prayer than this 🌎 world can ever imagine. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him will have everlasting life. We ought to ask the Lord to teach us to pray and to help us live a life of prayer. We ought to take the command; "Rejoice evermore, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you" and pray that command through until we are living it. We should do this with all the commands of the Bible. God help us to bring everything to You in prayer.

Lord grant that we pray as You prayed. Help us to live like You. Help us to be like You in all things and in every way.

This new year I want to spend more time in prayer. As I was looking up Bible verses on prayer, this old hymn started going thru my head, so I had to look up the words.
