Day by day, and with each passing moment, Strength I find to meet my trials here; Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment, I’ve no cause for worry or for fear. He, whose heart is kind beyond all measure, Gives unto each day what He deems best, Lovingly its part of pain and pleasure, Mingling toil with peace and rest.

Every day the Lord Himself is near me, With a special mercy for each hour; All my cares He fain would bear and cheer me, He whose name is Counsellor and Pow’r. The protection of His child and treasure Is a charge that on Himself He laid; “As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,” This the pledge to me He made.

Help me then, in every tribulation, So to trust Thy promises, O Lord, That I lose not faith’s sweet consolation, Offered me within Thy holy Word. Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting, E’er to take, as from a father’s hand, One by one, the days, the moments fleeting, Till with Christ the Lord I stand.
This song implies the real and personal relationship of a human being to the Almighty God, Creator of the universe. What a wonderful thought and truth to believe, to believe that He is right in the middle of every detail of my life, day by day.
I have loved this song for many years (probably 35), but more so since my husband went to be with the Lord three years ago. This song reminds me depend on the Lord moment by moment and day by day. It is such an encouraging song that reminds me that no matter how difficult things may be come, God and His grace will always be there for me to draw from.
This song has been a real comfort and blessing to me since my husband went home to be with our Lord and Saviour last month. I have known this hymn from childhood and often find myself humming or sing it.
To know the Lord and then become lukewarm can be very difficult. When I found my way back to a life of total surrender to the Lord this song was an absolute rock, a constant guide in my spiritual journey.
I am so blessed with this song, what a mighty God we have in our lives. I pray that everyone in this world to know HIM personally, so that this song may be real in their lives.
