Day by day, and with each passing moment

Comfort in Trials By Trusting the Lord

English713
1
Day by day, and with each passing moment,
Strength I find to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment,
I’ve no cause for worry or for fear.
He, whose heart is kind beyond all measure,
Gives unto each day what He deems best,
Lovingly its part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and rest.
2
Every day the Lord Himself is near me,
With a special mercy for each hour;
All my cares He fain would bear and cheer me,
He whose name is Counsellor and Pow’r.
The protection of His child and treasure
Is a charge that on Himself He laid;
“As thy days, thy strength shall be in measure,”
This the pledge to me He made.
3
Help me then, in every tribulation,
So to trust Thy promises, O Lord,
That I lose not faith’s sweet consolation,
Offered me within Thy holy Word.
Help me, Lord, when toil and trouble meeting,
E’er to take, as from a father’s hand,
One by one, the days, the moments fleeting,
Till with Christ the Lord I stand.

Precious words!! Some of my earliest memories are of my parents singing this as a duet. Everyone who knows them attaches this song to them. They have sung it for years. This last year has been so terribly difficult for them...for us. Yet the truth of this song shines bright in the midst of the storm, bringing comfort and hope. Thank you mom and dad for living and singing His truths.

The Lord brought this melody to me a few times recently, then today I heard it sung on the radio, so felt He was trying to give me a message. On your website I was able to read the lyrics and see the message He had for me. Thank you for providing this service.

This song came as a reminder of God's word to me in a time of trials. "Everyday the Lord Himself is near me," is the sweetest words of protection that I have ever heard. Thanks and praises to Jehovah Jireh.

The Lord used this song to touch and bless me today to remind me of the depth of His love and care for me now and always. How good and kind He is to us.

I have listened to this song so many times, and cried as I sang along playing it in my car, this time it just came to mind that I should sing it on my birthday, Aug 21, 2011 for my congregation, what can one do to acknowledge the woderful mercies of God. Sing praises, so encouraging, I am going to give it my all.

It is a beautiful song. I will be using it this afternoon as a Prayer for our ship as it gets underway. The music, words and translation are all done by early founders of the Evangelical Covenant Church. It is still around today and growing. If there is one near you please check them out. They have been described as a "Denomination that fights above it's weight class" (a metaphor for the impact it has relative to it's size)

I use to wake up crying. I know Christ since 1979. Good teaching, good songs. God gave me a special gift. When I was saying have a good day in a letter to my prison pen pal, this song started going through my mind. What a blessing!

My faith isn't what it once was, undying and unquestioning, but in a way I feel that is good. Contemplating the meaning of our universe and our role in it is part of the free will and free thinking gift we received at the time of creation. This coming Sunday my sister and I will sing this hymn for my grandmother. It was one of my late grandfather's favorites, and I know that the moment will be special for everyone.

This is my all time favorite hymn. We sing it often in the Lutheran Church where I am a member. I have it closely by me at my home office desk. My son recently died in an accident at the age of 26. We sang it at his funeral on Dec 22, 2010 just before Christmas. All attending were comforted by it. Hopefully everyone who hears it can find as much comfort in it as I have through the years and especially now as I grieve the death of my oldest son.
