Über die Zahlennotation

Die Zahlennotation (auch Jianpu oder 简谱 genannt) schreibt jede Melodienote als Zahl von 1 bis 7 statt als Note auf einem Notensystem. Die Zahl zeigt die Stellung der Note in der Tonleiter des Liedes -- nicht ihre genaue Tonhöhe --, sodass dieselbe Melodie unabhängig von der gesungenen Tonart gleich aussieht.

Innerhalb einer Oktave entsprechen die Zahlen 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 den bekannten Solmisationssilben Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Ti. Ein Punkt über einer Zahl hebt sie um eine Oktave an; ein Punkt darunter senkt sie um eine Oktave ab -- ohne Punkt bleibt es bei der mittleren, so geschriebenen Oktave.

Eine einzelne Zahl dauert einen Schlag. Ein Bindestrich (-) direkt nach einer Zahl hält dieselbe Note einen weiteren Schlag lang. Ein Strich unter einer Zahl verkürzt sie dagegen -- ein Strich ist ein halber Schlag, zwei Striche ein viertel Schlag. Eine 0 ist eine Pause: ein Schlag Stille.

Die Angabe oben auf dem Notenblatt, zum Beispiel "1=C" oder "1=Ab", zeigt, auf welcher Tonhöhe die Stufe 1 ("Do") liegt. Ein Lied in Moll trägt stattdessen die Angabe "6=X" -- Stufe 6 ("La") ist dann der eigentliche Grundton. Akkordsymbole über den Noten (wie "C" oder "G7") werden immer mit ihren gewohnten Buchstabennamen geschrieben, nie als Zahlen.

Bei der Angabe "1=C" klingen die Zahlen 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 als C D E F G A B. Bei "1=G" klingen dieselben Zahlen dagegen als G A B C D E F# -- gleiche Form, andere Tonart.

This morning this hymn came to me as I was beginning to worry about one of my sons, who I haven't heard from in a few days. It was best to stop my anxious thoughts and sing this wonderful, encouraging and soul soothing hymn. What a Christ we have!! Simply trusting Him in the middle of all our cares and circumstances. I woke up from a sad dream with this song on my lips. I reflected on all the difficult situations in my life which are far beyond my control as I sang this hymn. Tears flowed as I yielded my desire to be in charge of my life to the Lord's authority. The words of the hymn are a powerful reminder that the Lord knows the end from the beginning, we're the ones in the passenger seat on a journey to an unknown destination. We must trust the Lord that no matter how bumpy the road is he will get us safely to the only destination worth being at. Trusting Jesus that is all 🙏🏾.

It's just four days to Christmas and exactly 128 days since the enemy of my soul came to hack off my life in a ghastly road accident. I got a major fracture on my right leg, the messenger of Satan to steal all I've worked for this passing year.

The mental torture of needing assistance to do even what should ordinarily be private to me, and the frustration of being confined to particular place for a long time leaves me wondering what the essence of living truly is.

In comes my unflinching faith in Jesus Christ. Trusting Him these dark 128 days has been the best decision of my entire life. Each time I am despondent and somehow draw closer to the gates of hell, I see his love come through the shadows and restore great peace in my heart. What a Saviour!
