My faith looks up to Thee

Longings For Grace

English429
1
My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Savior Divine;
Now hear me while I pray;
Take all my guilt away;
Oh, let me from this day
Be wholly Thine.
2
May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire;
As Thou hast died for me,
Oh, may my love to Thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be,
A living fire.
3
While life’s dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my Guide;
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away,
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.
4
All thru life’s transient dream,
Until death’s sullen stream
Shall o’er me roll,
Blest Savior, with Thy love,
Fear and distrust remove;
Make me Thy grace to prove
Transform my soul.

…for a reason I can’t explain, my colleague raised this hymn during our morning devotion at the office and since then, the song and all of it beautiful lyrics has been re-echoing in my head. It was beautiful back in nursery through secondary school, it’s even more beautiful now that I can fully understand what each words of the lyrics truly means.

This was my favorite morning devotion hymn in my secondary school days in the early 70s. It also reminds me of my late Dad who was the principal at that time. He was also an organist, hence we had to sing every hymn perfectly before discharging us to our classes.

Sweet memories- rest on Dad

This song has found itself deep in my soul for the past 2 weeks or more. As usual I would hear the tune and a few words so when I searched my friend Google I acutually typed "my soul look upon to Thee" and but he corrected me and gave me the correct lyrics. I noticed this song is lingering longer than usual in my soul and so in an attempt to understand what God is saying to me I am amaze to find this there is an opportunity to make a comment when I sesrch for lyrics. Not to mentioned that God has done the same to others by speaking yo us through this song. Hallelujah to tge Most High God!

I was having a short prayer walk around my home, after I committed the new month of March into God's hands and praying for help from above, this hymn popped up! Truly My faith looks up to God this month of March and for the rest of the months in 2026.

I felt so ashamed of myself, that my worthless self could no find my foot again in Christ my Lord. But in my loneliness this morning, my heart kept saying " my faith up to thee". That was, and a rejuvenation feel my soul. Lord I came to thee. Oh! Let me from this day be wholly thine. 🙏

A sweet blessing to see these comments from brothers and sisters all over the world.

In my quiet time this morning ... reading in Isaiah I was reading about Israel's failures and a dark cloud came over me and I was reminded of my own failures. Felt so worthless I started feeling too unworthy to even ask the Lord for relief.. But God... whispered look up ! .. and a blurred title of this hymn came to my mind.. just " look up to Thee.. found the whole hymn here. Praise the Lord who comforts us at all times inspite of ourselves.
