Not all the blood of beasts

Praise of the Lord His Redemption

English107
1
Not all the blood of beasts,
On Jewish altars slain,
Could give the guilty conscience peace,
Or wash away its stain.
2
But Christ, the heavenly Lamb,
Takes all our sins away;
A sacrifice of nobler name,
And richer blood than they.
3
My faith would lay her hand
On that dear head of Thine,
While like a penitent I stand,
And there confess my sin.
4
My soul looks back to see
The burdens Thou didst bear
When hanging on the cursed tree,
And knows her guilt was there.
5
Believing, we rejoice
To see the curse remove;
We bless the Lamb with cheerful voice,
And sing His bleeding love.

Christ as the Son of Man

Becoming the Lamb of God

Christ as the Son of Man became the Lamb of God to take away our sin (John 1:29)—cherishing. If God had never become a man, He could not have become the Lamb. The One who is the Lamb is the Son of Man with humanity. It was only in humanity that God could accomplish redemption for us by dying on the cross. Our sin is the most troublesome thing to all of us, but Christ became the Lamb of God to die for us, to accomplish redemption for us, to take all our sins away. This is the greatest cherishing to us to make us happy and restful.

The Redemption of Christ as the Lamb of God

The base of the believers’ growth in life unveiled in the writings of John is first the redemption of Christ as the Lamb of God. John 1:29 says, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! ”

When we come to a verse like John 1:29 —“Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! ”—we should not merely read it. We should read it with prayer by saying, “Lord, praise You, You are the Lamb of God. I love You. Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! Lord Jesus, thank You for being the Lamb of God who took away my sin. ” The proper way to read the Bible is to read the Bible prayerfully. Our spiritual nourishment does not depend on the number of verses or chapters we read but on how many of the Lord’s words we have eaten (Jer. 15:16). We have to eat by pray-reading a few verses every morning. By eating Christ as the living bread embodied in His words of eternal life, we can grow in the divine life. Without eating, no one can grow.

Thank You Lord for accomplishing an eternal redemption for us on the cross. We can now come forward to God and have fellowship with God based on the sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ. We Love You Lord Jesus!

As one who holds to dispensational theology, I have been accused of thinking there are two different means of salvation. I don't; the blood of Christ alone can save us, from Adam to the last person born on earth. This hymn says it all.
