In the Name of Jesus
Every knee shall bow,
Every tongue confess Him
King of glory now;
'Tis the Father's pleasure
We should call Him Lord,
Who from the beginning
Was the Mighty Word.
Every knee shall bow,
Every tongue confess Him
King of glory now;
'Tis the Father's pleasure
We should call Him Lord,
Who from the beginning
Was the Mighty Word.

At His voice creation
Sprang at once to sight:
All the angel faces,
All the hosts of light,
Thrones and dominations,
Stars upon their way,
All the heav'nly orders,
In their great array.
Sprang at once to sight:
All the angel faces,
All the hosts of light,
Thrones and dominations,
Stars upon their way,
All the heav'nly orders,
In their great array.

Humbled for a season,
To receive a Name
From the lips of sinners
Unto whom He came,
Faithfully He bore it
Spotless to the last,
Brought it back victorious,
When from death He passed;
To receive a Name
From the lips of sinners
Unto whom He came,
Faithfully He bore it
Spotless to the last,
Brought it back victorious,
When from death He passed;
4
Bore it up triumphant,
With its human light,
Through all ranks of creatures,
To the central height;
To the throne of Godhead,
To the Father's breast,
Filled it with the glory
Of that perfect rest.
With its human light,
Through all ranks of creatures,
To the central height;
To the throne of Godhead,
To the Father's breast,
Filled it with the glory
Of that perfect rest.

Name Him, brothers, name Him,
With love strong as death,
But with awe and wonder,
And with bated breath;
He is God the Savior,
He is Christ the Lord,
Ever to be worshiped,
Trusted, and adored.
With love strong as death,
But with awe and wonder,
And with bated breath;
He is God the Savior,
He is Christ the Lord,
Ever to be worshiped,
Trusted, and adored.
6
In your hearts enthrone Him;
There let Him subdue
All that is not holy,
All that is not true;
Crown Him as your Captain
In temptation's hour;
Let His will enfold you
In its light and power.
There let Him subdue
All that is not holy,
All that is not true;
Crown Him as your Captain
In temptation's hour;
Let His will enfold you
In its light and power.

Brothers, this Lord Jesus
Shall return again,
With His Father's glory,
With His angel train;
For all wreaths of empire
Meet upon His brow,
And our hearts confess Him
King of glory now.
Shall return again,
With His Father's glory,
With His angel train;
For all wreaths of empire
Meet upon His brow,
And our hearts confess Him
King of glory now.

The Lord of Judgment
In Revelation the Lord does not come to be the Lord of redemption or to be the Lord of salvation but to be the Lord of judgment. If one does not meet Him as the Lord of redemption in the four Gospels or as the Lord of salvation in Acts and the Epistles, he will meet Him as the Lord of judgment in Revelation. Revelation 1:7 says, “Behold, He comes with the clouds, and every eye will see Him. ” Whether a person is a believer, a Gentile, or a Jew, he will meet the Lord. No one can escape the Lord of judgment. Every knee shall bow to Him, and every tongue shall openly confess to God ( Rom. 14:11 ).

A NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES
In the Lord’s ascension and exaltation to the highest, He was given a name that is above all names, a name to which every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess. The name is Jesus. Some may argue that the name Jesus was given to Him at the time of His birth. Why was He given the same name at His ascension, the name to which every knee should bow and every tongue should confess? Again, the name given to Him at His birth was not so official. At His ascension the name Jesus was made more official. Before His ascension, officially speaking, “Jesus” was not a name that was above all names. It was by His ascension that God declared to the whole universe that the name of Jesus is above all names: “Therefore also God highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should openly confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father” ( Phil. 2:9-11 ). This is a kind of declaration, announcement, and proclamation to the whole universe. All the universe has to know that God has officially made the name Jesus above all names.

Every tongue shall confess!

As a young woman, Caroline Noel tried to write poems, but she gave it up by the age of 20. Then when she was bedridden with a serious illness at 40, she took up her pen once again. Eventually her poetry was published in a little book called "At the Name of Jesus, and Other Verses for the Sick and Lonely."
You might think the tone of her work would be comforting and devotional, but this hymn is more theological in nature. It focuses attention on Jesus and His power, rather than on sickness and loneliness. Actually, the poem is a beautiful paraphrase of Philippians 2:4-11, an early-church hymn that shows Jesus humbling Himself on earth and being glorified in heaven. - Great Songs of Faith by Brown & Norton

Thanks for including the whole hymn. Many hymnals shorten it to 4 stanzas.
The original 1st stanza of this hymn starts with "At" instead of "In".
