For the bread and for the wine

We are as Thyself the same.

Just singing the above hymn will bring us into God's economy. If you go back to the hymns written by the Brethren, they will no longer be that enjoyable. Take, for example, Hymns, #226:

For the bread and for the wine,
For the pledge that seals Him mine,
For the words of love divine,
We give Thee thanks, O Lord.

Many hymns can be sung at the Lord's table meeting, but according to the content of the hymns, there is a distinction of order. For example, Hymns, #226 is used at the Lord's table meeting, but it would be inappropriate to sing it at the beginning. If this hymn is used at the beginning of the meeting, the Spirit must be very strong, and there is no need for other hymns to bring the meeting higher. Normally, the Lord's table meeting proceeds step by step; a hymn advances the meeting a step, and then a praise advances it another step. It is only after a few hymns and prayers that the meeting is brought to the highest point where we touch the Lord Himself. When everyone feels that they are face to face with the Lord, we can bless the bread.

If our spirit is focused on the bread and the cup and a prayer is offered regarding the Lord's suffering on earth, a brother should follow the prayer and the atmosphere of the meeting to select Hymns, #226, "For the bread and for the wine, / For the pledge that seals Him mine, / For the words of love divine, / We give Thee thanks, O Lord." This will bring us into the feeling of the bread and the cup. When we come to the fourth stanza, we should all stand up and prepare for the breaking of the bread. After singing, someone should offer a prayer of blessing to receive the bread and the cup from the Lord's hand.
