Oh, how dark the night that wrapt my spirit round

1
Oh, how dark the night that wrapt my spirit round!
Oh, how deep the woe my Savior found
When He walked across the waters of my soul,
Bade my night disperse and made me whole!

All the way to Calvary He went for me,
  He went for me, He went for me;
All the way to Calvary He went for me,
    He died to set me free.
2
Tremblingly a sinner bowed before His face,
Naught I knew of pardon, God’s free grace;
Heard a voice so melting, “Cease thy wild regret,
Jesus bought thy pardon, paid thy debt.”
3
O ’twas wondrous love the Savior showed for me!
When He left His throne for Calvary,
When He bore my trespass, bore it all alone;
Praise His Name forever, make it known.

Christ’s death was all-inclusive and was accomplished once for all. There is no need for Him to die again. The Lord’s all-inclusive death is eternal. If we see this, we shall praise the Lord that sin, sins, the flesh, the old man, the old creation, Satan, the world, and the ordinances have all been dealt with through the death of Christ.

Because Christ is an all-inclusive person, He died an all-inclusive death. For example, if the king of a certain country were to die, a person with a twofold status—a man and a king—would die. As our Redeemer the Lord Jesus had a sixfold status and therefore died as the Lamb of God, a man in the flesh, the last Adam, a creature, a serpent in form, and our peace and Peacemaker. Such an all-inclusive person died an all-inclusive death. Because Christ’s death was all-inclusive, when He died on the cross all negative things were dealt with. Sin, sins, the flesh, the old man, the old creation, Satan, the world, and all the ordinances were dealt with. All these negative things were terminated and taken away through the all-inclusive death of Christ, our Redeemer.

As we remain under the Lord’s dispensing, all the aspects of His person in redemption will be dispensed into us. We should not try to overcome sin or destroy Satan. If we try to overcome sin, we shall be overcome by it. If we try to destroy Satan, he will destroy us. The only way to overcome sin and destroy Satan is to stay under the dispensing of Christ. Our basic need today is to experience more of the dispensing of the processed Triune God into our being.

Praise Our Almighty God for these beautiful wonderful songs.

It's good to once again feel, see and appreciate the world and all that God creates through the eyes of a child.

Revised version:

1 O 'twas wondrous love the Savior showed for me!

When He left His throne for Calvary,

Shrinking not, enduring suff'ring, poverty,

Hardship on His pathway—all for me!

All the way to Calvary He went for me,

He went for me, He went for me,

All the way to Calvary He went for me,

To save, give life to me.

2 O what painful sight! My Savior on the tree,

Thorn-crowned head, and nail wounds borne for me;

Gashes from the flogging, blood-streams flowing free;

Pain He tasted, out of love for me!

Suffering at Calvary in love for me,

In love for me, in love for me;

Suffering at Calvary in love for me,

From bonds He set me free!

3 O how dark the earth! God's judgment man could see;

Holy wrath, as fire, raged mightily!

Righteousness slew Him who bore my sins for me;

He received the punishment for me.

Crucified at Calvary instead of me,

Instead of me, instead of me;

Crucified at Calvary instead of me,

My sins He bore for me!

4 Once a trembling sinner, ignorant of grace,

Now I've seen His side pierced in my place,

Heard, “My blood, to purchase your forgiveness, streamed”;

Now I know His death has me redeemed!

Shedding blood at Calvary, redeeming me!

Redeeming me! Redeeming me!

Shedding blood at Calvary, redeeming me,

From woe He set me free!

Let us also sing another hymn, hymn 680. Both the verses and the chorus are very well written. This hymn is suitable for both the young and old. But to sing this song you need to become young again; otherwise, you will not sense the flavor of the words, "Oh love, wonderful love!" When you come to the chorus of the second verse, you should sing it softly:

He suffered crucifixion, what mercy to me,

Mercy to me, mercy to me;

He suffered crucifixion, what mercy to me,

He died to set me free.
